Last night my wife and I camped out up at Cascade Siskiyou National Monument - not far from Chinquapin Mtn. and only about 7 min drive to Hwy 66. We were not at a campground. After getting up to pee at 3am or so I noticed a crazy yell/howl noise going on. The vocalizations took place over and over again in 5-10 second intervals for almost two hours. The vocalizations I heard very much reminded me of the Umatilla sounds. Needless to say, I didn't go back to sleep until the yelling/howling stopped (close to 5am). It sounded like it was coming from maybe a mile or two below from where we were camping. I am sure it must have sounded way louder to anyone closer down towards the Greensprings. I know someone else camping up near Hyatt Lake and/or Hwy 66 area had to have heard them last night as well.
