IBS Report #: 3366
Location: Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan county, AK. UNITED STATES
Sighting Type: 3
Latitude: +055˚ 29' N
Longitude: 132˚ 56' W
Day:
Month: SUMMER
Year: 1993-94
Time:
Elevation: 1500
Data Source: TR 87 MAY 1999
Credibility: 3
Locality: Klawock Lake on POW Island
Researcher: Rob Alley
Witness: Eric Muench
Sighting Type: 3
Summary: BF NEST FOUND, WOVEN OUT OF CEDAR AND HUCKLEBERRY, HANDPRINT, HAIR, SCAT
Sighting Text:
TR 87 MAY 1999 * Rob Alley reporting on a Bigfoot nest, kokanee@ptialaska.net. The nest which I will get copies of photos for you was discovered at about 1500 ft elevation on a logging spur half way down the E. side of Klawock Lake on POW Island, AK, 5 years ago(4?) by contracted logging engineer Eric Muench of Ketchikan, while road building/ surveying for a logging company in Klawock. It was summer. Eric found a 7 & 1/2 foot nest with a rim two to three ft in height woven (!) out of cedar and huckleberry branches. The cedar was in large strips torn from the side of a very large cedar adjacent the nest. Four employees and managers of the logging company, when told of the nest were initially skeptical, but when they discovered it was Eric who had found it, immediately said "let's go!" Eric’s word that it was not a fallen eagles' nest or a bear day bed or hibernaculum were more than sufficient for them. Two of these men were (then manager) Jim Matinez and supervisor Richard Carl, JR. The photos show the nest with an axe in it for scale, the cedar tree (which subsequently blew down on the nest, destroying it), broken huckleberry bushes, and five nail marks with thumb imprints in the tree beneath where the bark had been torn off. The finger tips span 8" but the thumbprint is not abducted, very simian looking. Hair and nearby fecal matter were found and bagged. The only strand of hair left that I know of is in the possession of Mr. Dick Hamlin, given to him By Eric on my assurance that he would make an attempt to get it to Henner or yourself for analysis. The hair was approximately four in. in length, black or dark brown near the base turning a bronze color toward the tip. There was no smell noted at the nest at any time according to Eric. The previous year however he had heard a loud rapping noise nearby, "like wood being swung against a tree or log". There are several old and new reports in that immediate area which I have not been able to get details on but will share with you when I do manage to do so. Best regards to you and WBS, Rob Alley, Ketchikan,AK.

It had long reddish brown fur, looked to be about 10 feet tall and weighed about 750 pounds. it was a pretty good picture. He took the picture of the Bigfoot standing on a mountain ledge not too far below where he was standing. Sighting Text:
TR 69 JULY 97 * From Internet, Jon A. Adams. “About 15 years ago, I went on a fishing trip to central Alaska. My fishing guide told a story to me, totally unsolicited, about an encounter with Bigfoot. He even had a picture of it that he had taken. The Bigfoot in the picture looked real. It had long reddish brown fur, looked to be about 10 feet tall and weighed about 750 pounds. it was a pretty good picture. He took the picture of the Bigfoot standing on a mountain ledge not too far below where he was standing. This took place in a very remote region of Southwestern Alaska, in the Wood-Tikchik Narrows Lakes region.” Info from Douglas E. Trapp, Dallas, Texas: dtrapp@compuserve.com
