Sighting Text:
* Evelyn Henricks called 8/17 and reports the finding of a place with her sister Gladys Walker (erroneously said Norma's sister in TR#37 report); who took area photos on 8/14/94; and aunt Norma Clark; north of Bentonville; AK; where strange holes had been dug; the dirt removed to make mounds nearby. The five holes she examined were 2-3 feet deep and 3-5 feet across; and no dirt was found next to the randomly scattered holes about 10-20 feet apart. The three mounds of different sizes were of loose soil; while the soil in the area is quite dry and compact. It was estimated that they were about a year old; based on last winters leaves being scattered on the surface and a small sapling tree growing from one of the mounds. What makes the area strange; is that one of the holes had four tracks visible in the soil leading up to the hole; and one stepping across. Evelyn called me asking about Bigfoot burial practices; but they did not excavate the mounds; just poking a stick in far enough to determine that there might be a hollow place underneath. Two dogs became quite excited; yapping and digging at the Bigfoot prints and even around the mound. They will tape measure the area and excavate the mounds and send in photos for another report. Norma Clark; Bentonville; AR; writes about the area...we had went way back in the woods and found six holes in the ground; but only one pile of dirt. It looks like a grave; but was not very big...not big enough to account for the dirt removed from the holes. The dogs barked and hid in the house. Her big white dog never comes in the house; and he was so frightened; it was hard to get him out after he came in. Norma also mentioned (no date - assume recent) her neighbor; a mile and a half away; saw at 12:30 AM; a human-like figure cross the road. He said it was 6-7 feet tall.,

* Cammy McDaniel; Bella Vista; AR; 8/25/94. I was six miles NE of Bentonville; AR; on 8/21/94; at 1;10 AM. I had the TV turned up and the dogs in the neighborhood started barking. Then I heard this unexplainable sound that I've never heard in my entire life! (14 years old) It made the hair on my body stand straight up. I got my pellet gun and went outside on the backyard deck where it had gone dead quiet. Then it started up again from real close. I shot my pellet gun in the direction of the sound and it quit. Off the side of my deck I saw a big; hairy; thing standing beside a tree. It was at least eight feet tall. I guess it saw me looking at it because it made that sound and took off running really fast around the side of the house. When I saw it; it was about five feet away from where I was standing. I ran inside.,

In February we had a 12 inch snowstorm; and on 2/7 my daughter found these tracks in the snow. Could it be possible Bigfoot tracks? There had been no one down in the hollow; about 300 feet from my house. On the back of each picture are the measurements; and arrow showing the front of the picture.,

AR GREENE 1851 TR#85 * An article in The Memphis Enquirer, May 9, 1851, reads...Unknown Creature Sighted in Arkansas. Wild Man of the Woods. “During March last, Mr. Hamilton of Greene County, Arkansas, while out hunting with an acquaintance, observed a drove of cattle in a state of apparent alarm, evidently pursued by some dreaded enemy. Halting for the purpose, they soon discovered as the animals fled by them, that they were followed by an animal bearing the unmistakable likeness of humanity. He was of gigantic stature, the body being covered with hair and the head with long locks that fairly enveloped his neck and shoulders. The "Wildman", for we must so call him, after looking at them deliberately for a short time, turned and ran away with great speed, leapingfrom twelve to fourteen feet at a time. His foot prints measured thirteen inches each. This singular creature has long been known traditionally in St. Francis Green and Poinsett counties. Arkansas sportsmen and hunters having described him so long as seventeen years since. A planter, indeed, saw him very recently, but withheld his information lest he should not be credited, until the account of Mr. Hamilton and his friend placed the existence of the animal beyond cavil." PLEASE NOTE: Cryptozoology author Loren Coleman found the 1851 Arkansas article during his investigations in the early 1960s, and shared it with Bigfoot researchers George Haas and John Green. It has come down through the years as one of the earliest accounts from the Midwest USA.

* Bill Green has an interesting letter in his latest newsletter, #7 (Free; 21 Benham St., Apt. F, Bristol, CT 06010). From a John S. Poulas, 570 Cherry Street Apt. B-4, Elizabeth, NJ 07208, on July 26, 1993. In June, 1992, Poulas and his fiancé were in Fouke, Arkansas, and asking of the Boggy Creek monster, were directed to Smokey Crabtree, who has some non-human bones, with skin and reddish-brown hair. The orangutan like creature, found by hunters, is headless (a Krantz fan?), but the decomposing remains would have stood six or seven feet tall. Mr. Crabtree, apparently, is not averse to scientific investigation...contact Mr. Poulas for more details.
