Summary: SKUNK APE SEEN, CROUCHED LOW BEHIND PALM FROND

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1983 TR#71 James McMullen, has been tracking and recording the activities of Florida Panthers in these swamps for 21 years. At one point, 14 years ago, Mr. McMullen saw, not what he calls a Skunk Ape, but something that he couldn’t explain. He was following a trail in the swamp, and felt he was being watched. Thinking he was being watched by a panther from behind him on the trail, he turned so that he could see it. Upon turning, he saw, from a distance of about 100 yards, a large dark shape, crouched low to the ground behind a palm frond, that it appeared to be crouching down to conceal its presence. Mr. McMullen, thought at this point that it was a bear, and he started down the trail to try to flush the bear out from hiding, when he began approaching the shape, it jumped, from a crouched position across the ten foot wide trail and was gone. James stated that the only known animal he could associate it with was a Gorilla. The recent spate of Sightings caught James interest, and he has since began looking into the mystery of the Skunk Ape. He examined the casts made by David Shealy, and discovered what he thinks to be the outline of a fifth toe, as well as what seems to be a wart or protrusion between two of the toes, James now says that when he’s out in the swamp looking for traces of panthers, he’ll keep his eye out for Skunk Apes as well, you never know what you’ll find.

Sighting Text:
Chupacabra kills dog,3ft tall, eyes glowed green in light, spines on back, sucking dogs blood, May 14 or 15th, the witness was in his RV camping in the Everglades, Florida. The dog, a German shepherd, wanted out that night, and shortly later he heard a single “yelp” from the dog. He took his light, one of those million candlepower jobs, and went out, flooding the area with light. He saw a strange creature, with eyes that glowed green in and out of the light. It was almost yellow, three feet tall, about 100 pounds, bipedal, five 2 1/2 foot spines on its back, and it was...sucking blood out of the dog. It looked at him, then let out a screech, and ran off when the witness yelled at it, concerned about his pet. The dog’s neck was broken, twisted to the back, and had two fang marks, and appeared to be drained of blood. He heard another scream from the distance, and hurriedly put the dogs body in his small RV bathtub, and put ice on it, and got out of there, heading to a nearby vet. The vet said he knew of no animal that would do that, confirming that the shepherd had been drained of blood, but admitted he had heard of other cases that were similar.

Also, Vince Doerr, chief of Ochopee Fire Control District, saw creature cross Burns Road near his home July 21st in the morning. As he was riding along, 800 feet in front of him, a brown looking creature ran across the road, “it wasn’t a bear,” he said. The creature was to far away, but he grabbed his camera and shot anyway. *** The paper went on to comment on a 1960’s Bigfoot held by the armed services at Everglades National Park. Wildlife biologist George Dalrymple said the ape escaped by ramming itself through a concrete block wall. Investigators made casts of its prints, but those casts are top secret...probably locked away in federal vaults, Dalrymple said

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1971 TR#71 And the final sighting I attribute to this flap occurred on August 17th. This report was forwarded to Bigfoot researcher, Bob Smith, by a local tracker, whom the witnesses contacted. The couple wanted their names to remain confidential. They were out watching birds and wildlife when it began to get dark. The couple prepared to leave the area and turned on their headlights. They were traveling north on Turner road when they observed a creature cross the road approximately 100 to 200 yards in front of them. They drove to the area of the crossing and turned their vehicle towards the west side of the road, in the direction that the creature had traveled. As they turned their car, the headlights caught an object about 30 yards from the west side of Turner road. As the couple looked closer, they realized that it was a very dark complexioned man-like creature that they described as being well over 7' tall, 300 to 400 pounds and looking like a linebacker for a football team. The creature constantly kept it's back to the vehicle and moved out of the headlights. As the couple moved the car, to place the creature back in the headlights, it again moved out of the light. The couple became concerned and left the area. When the couple were asked about further details, of the creature, they advised that they never saw the face and were unable to advise as to body hair.

Sighting Text:
Tr16* Steve Wiggins was in the shop and had a tale about his uncle Lowell in Florida. The tale was apparently told in the Miami Herald, but will repeat what was said. Uncle Lowell was a police corporal with 17 years experience, and was cruising Alligator Alley, a strip of road on the outskirts of Fort Lauderdale towards Fort Meyers. At the end of August, 1977, Lowell hit a skunk ape, and did considerable damage to the car. The thing towered over the car he maintained, and lost his job and pension for his trouble (rehired later in Ft. Meyers). The ape-like, man-like creature had a bad smell, and left hair and blood on the car. It was compared with 100 other samples and found to not conform to any. TO this day (talked to him 4 years ago), uncle Lowell says it was a skunk ape he hit. You have to admire someone like this that sticks to their guns...he could have as easily said he hit a bear or something.

Summary: 7 FT BROWN SKUNK APE SEEN, ROCKING BACK AND FORTH, SHAKING BUSHES

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1997 TR#71 The Skunk Ape Through the years, several reports have come from Florida in swamps and on beaches, and just this past July, the wave of sightings that occurred was not only interesting to Bigfoot enthusiasts, but to the media world as well. The location, Ochopee, is in the Southwest peninsula of Florida, 35 miles southeast of Naples. Ochopee (O-Choppy) is located in the Big Cypress Nature Preserve, north of the Everglades National Park. The recent sightings began on July 16th, and soon became the talk of the town... of the state for that matter, even gaining national attention eventually, when INSIDE EDITION traveled to the area to shoot a segment on the skunk ape for their show. I think UNSOLVED MYSTERIES was also interested in the events, but whatever came of that, I’m not sure. On July 16th, around 2:00 PM, Steve Goodbread, a tour guide for Pelican Tours, was driving a tour bus with a group of tourists along Turner Road. The bus arrived at an area where there is a burned out wooden bridge across the canal on the east side of the road. The guide and the tourists spotted a large brownish colored creature behind some brush near the bridge. The creature continually stood upright on two legs, was about 7' tall, had hair covering it's entire body (except for the face) and was rocking back & forth. The guide stated that the creature resembled a gorilla, and said that the creature was shaking the bushes and appeared to be irritated by their presence. The creature was approximately 70 to 80 yards away. The witnesses continued to watch the creature for about 15 minutes, while the guide repeatedly eased the tour bus forward and backward so as to allow visibility of the creature to everyone on the bus. The guide attempted to get one of the tourists to exit the bus and take photographs of the creature, but nobody would get off the bus. They eventually drove away, leaving the creature at this location. The tour guide later returned to the area and found a road where he could drive into the swamp, but, he did not locate the creature again. The guide feels that the creature might have been a hoax but states that it would be nearly impossible for a human to withstand the heat at that time of day in a suit. This is also an area that is heavily populated by alligators. Mr.. Goodbread is in a state of disbelief about what he saw, although he believes in the possible existence of the skunk ape, but prefers not to associate the creature with his tours.

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1997 TR#71 On July 17th, around 2:30 PM, Dow Roland, a tour guide for Everglades Day Safari, was driving a tour bus with a group of tourists, along the same road that two days before, Steve Goodbread had spotted the skunk ape. Roland saw a brownish colored bipedal creature about 300' west of the road, at the edge of the brush. Roland described the creature as being approximately 7' tall, long brown hair, standing upright when walking or running, having a smooth face and resembling a gorilla. Rowland's observation of the creature was brief before it ran into the brush. His initial thought was that it was someone in a gorilla suit playing a prank. He was on his return trip at the time of this sighting. A few minutes later he returned to the same area, on Turner Road, with another group of tourists. Rowland was near the area where he had first observed the creature. He again observed the creature on the west side of Turner road. This time the creature was approximately 150' from the road and again the observation was brief before the creature ran into the brush. The creature appeared to act nervous. Rowland believed this to be the same creature that he had previously observed. He indicated that he was still shocked and in disbelief that this could be a real creature. He finished the tour without observing the creature again. After completing the tour, he retrieved his camera and returned to the sighting area on Turner Road. He drove up & down Turner Road but was unable to again locate the creature. He then drove south and was near the area of his other sightings, he was preparing to give up his search, when he observed a white convertible driving north. The convertible passed him and continued north bound. He looked in his rear view mirror and observed the convertible stop suddenly then drive off. In an instant he observed the creature appear at the west edge of Turner Road, approximately where the convertible had stopped. He quickly turned around but the creature had again disappeared into the brush. Mr. Rowland was unable to locate the creature again. The next day, on Saturday 7-19-97, Rowland told David Shealy of his observations. David Shealy is the owner/operator of the Florida Panther Gift Shop located on Highway U. S. 41, one mile west of Turner Road.

Summary: 7 FT BROWN SKUNK APE CROSSES ROAD

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1997 TR#71 On July 21st, Jan Brock, a Collier county Realtor who lives in the area of Ochopee, was traveling south on Burns road, sometime just prior to 7:45 am, in route to work. She was approximately 2 miles north of U. S. 41 when she observed a creature, that she indicated was approximately 1000 feet in front of her car, cross the road. Brock first observed the creature at the west edge of the road. The creature crossed the road, heading east, and disappeared into the thick brush and trees on the east side of Burns road. Brock described the creature as about 7' tall, covered with a furry coat of thick dark brown hair and what appeared to be a patch of off-white or light colored hair on it's chest. Brock explained that she has often times traveled the roads, observed the wildlife, and has seen numerous animals in the Everglades. Brock compared the light colored chest patch, on the creature, to similar coloration that she has observed on bears that have been laying on the local limestone roads. Brock further explained that this creature was definitely not a bear...that it's legs were too long to be a bear’s and that it walked upright the entire time of her observation. Brock recalls that she noticed that the creature looked in her direction but she was too far away to view the physical characteristics or any facial features. She drove to where the creature had crossed, and stopped her car. She then rolled her window down part way but did not exit her vehicle. She looked around for the creature and for signs of any footprints. She was unable to find any further signs of the creature. Brock's family has owned property, in this area, for many years and she used to bring her children, when they were young and before they built a house there, to the area for picnics and weekend camping trips. This would have been in the late 1960s. She explained that her children would often claim that they saw Bigfoot creatures around their property and in the swamps. Brock advised that her family has never been bothered by the creatures. She does believe that he creatures exist and does not fear them.

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1997 TR#71 On the same day as Mrs. Brock’s sighting, JULY 21, around 8:00 AM, Vince Doerr, Ochopee fire chief , was driving south from his home toward U.S. highway 41 in route to work. He saw a Skunk Ape cross the road approximately 600' to 800' in front of him. The creature was moving from east to west at a slow pace. The witness arrived at the crossing site, exited his vehicle and took a photograph of the creature, approx. 80 yards away in the swamp. The picture is of the rear and upper torso of the creature. The creature was approximately 7' tall, bulky, reddish dark brown in color and continuously walked upright.

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1997 TR#71 David Shealy learned of fire chief Vince Doerr's sighting, and associated it with what Dow Roland had told him earlier. On Thursday 7-24-97 Shealy went to the area, on Turner Road, where the creature had been observed. Shealy is a long time resident of the area and is familiar with the swamp. Shealy began searching the area. He found, what he believed to be, hair on some brush next to a path. The hair was brown in color and approximately three inches in length. He also located several large tracks in the area. Shealy was able to take plaster casts of two of the tracks. The footprints measured approximately 13.5" in length, approximately 6" in width at the toes and approximately 3" in width at the heel. Days later, Shealy stated he was visited at night by two men, stating they wanted the see the casts and the hair, upon seeing the hair, on man placed it in his pocket and told Shealy it would be examined and returned, Shealy then told them that the casts weren’t with him, the two men left and Shealy never saw them again.

Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1999 TR#85 * Chris Kraska, Bigfoot kills pig, Mar 16, 1999. From: chriskraska@hotmail.com (Chris Kraska) Nov 14, 1998, proceeded to the Panther Gift Shop, FL, to drop in on David Shealy. I chatted with David for a few minutes and when I was getting ready to leave he said that I should check in with Tom who lives about 1/4 mile away.... because he had had some weird stuff going on over at his house. I drove over to Tom's place (a small house where he lives and grows Bougainvillea’s) and found him outside feeding his Pot Bellied Pigs. Tom is in his 70s and retired.... being a former charter plane pilot. He seems level-headed and welcomed me, telling me that two of his pigs had disappeared recently and he thought a bear had taken them. Here are his recollections of the events which he gave to me during our interview: "Sunday morning at about 2:25 AM, I heard some squealing outside. I got some clothes on and went out back to count my pigs and there were only 6 instead of 8." (Tom's Pot Bellied Pigs range from 90 to over 200 pounds, apparently being overfed by Tom who displays great affection for them.) "The two which disappeared included one that was about 150 pounds and one that was around 200 pounds. I went back to bed and got up at dawn. When I went outside I realized that something had come through the woods at the left rear edge of the property. (The back edge of the property borders on swamp with water averaging 26 inches in depth.) There was a path (quite high) that had been pushed through the bushes. I didn't see any tracks." (Tom said he didn't call anybody because "what could they do?" He did tell some neighbors, including David Shealy, who immediately indicated the Skunk Ape was the perpetrator.) "Early Tuesday morning at 1:30 AM I heard a pig squealing back in the swamp. I went outside to check on his pigs and all 6 were there. I wondered if it was one of the pigs which had disappeared nearly 48 hours earlier. Why would it still be alive? There aren't any feral pigs around here so I didn't think it was anything else other than one of mine." "On Tuesday at 11 AM this guy stopped by from the nursery to deliver some stuff. He's a nice guy, about 21 years old. He does a lot of hunting and fishing. I told him what happened and he walked around the property. He came back and told me that he had found the tracks of a 500 pound bear on the west back corner, coming out of the woods." (Tom did not see the tracks himself, so he could not describe them to me. It must be noted that a 500 black bear is a rarity, if not an impossibility in South Florida these days.) Another one of the local guys stopped by that afternoon and tried to go back into the swamp but came out... said it was too rough going. "That night (1:30 am Wednesday) I heard something big going from the house to the woods. It crashed through the woods when I came out... it must've been really big. I took three shots with my .22 rifle into the air and it kept on going. It was too dark for me to see anything. Since then nothing else has happened." What the investigator found: I asked Tom if he would mind me going into the woods behind his house and he said "Knock yourself out!" I made my way through the trail on the east corner of the property, the one presumably made during the first visit by the animal. The water was cold, dark, and above my knees. Many of the overhanging branches had been pushed aside to make a path in which to walk, it appeared. After making my way approximately 75 feet in this muck I came upon a small rise of ground. In the center of this muddy spot lay the body of one of Tom's pigs. What struck me immediately was the fact that the animal's head had been twisted or pulled off of its body and was facing the opposite direction with just a small piece of skin connecting it to the body. I examined the body carefully for marks and could find none. No claw or teeth marks were present and the animals gut was intact. In short, the only thing wrong with the animal was the fact that it had been decapitated. Looking back on it now I remember maggots both in the ground and in the pig. There was no blood evident on the ground under the animal that I could see. At this point I had a rather unnerving experience. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I was covered with goose-bumps. I immediately began scanning the surrounding swamp because ofan overwhelming feeling that I was being watched. As I had no camera on me to photograph the pig and had left my gun in the car I beat a hasty retreat back to Tom's property and told him what I had found. He was shocked that the head had been pulled off... I went to the car and retrieved my sidearm and slipped my camera into my bellows pocket. I went back out into the swamp via the other "path," making my way into the swamp then turning east when I believed I wouldn't find anything in that area. I came back to the rise after a while and photographed the body of the pig. Then I went back to Tom's property and had him photograph me with one of his similar sized pigs for a comparison. Here are the points about the investigation which struck me:Bears are primarily diurnal (active during the day) rather than nocturnal. A bear would typically kill a pig on the spot or drag it off a ways screaming, causing teeth and probably claw marks to be in evidence. How could a black bear drag a 200 pound pig 75 feet through debris choked water nearly 30 inches deep without significant marks on the body? Why was this pig killed so long after it disappeared? (Assuming the squealing was from this pig.) There are many more questions which could be posed regarding this particular series of events. Tom was kind enough to tell me he would call if anything strange happened again. He also said that I could spend the night in his back yard any time I wanted to. He was also almost disappointed that I would not give him my "professional opinion" as he put it, as to what it was that had taken his pigs. I told him that all I would say at the moment was that I did not believe it was a bear. Richard Greenwell of the International Society of Cryptozoology visited the site approximately one week after I did and concluded, based on tracks around the carcass, that a bear had been responsible. I disagreed. I believe the bear may well have been attracted by the stench of the carcass but when I visited the site the week prior there were no bear pugs in evidence. I continue to remain open minded. Note: Some 14 days later I visited the site again and discovered a 14" footprint in crushed coral coming out of the swamp. The track was very rough and on an incline and before I could even attempt to cast it, rain started pouring.

FL 1998 TR96 ELV 15 261510N 0811652W BIG CYPRESS PRESERVE It took me 13 months later October 18, 1998 -- I came on seven tracks near a water line -- big guys. But the problem was they were full of water and heavily deteriorated, but you could clearly see that something had walked along the water's edge. WAS THERE THREE TOES? I got five toes. Five toes. So, what I did was take the best of the seven prints and got as much water out of it as I could and took a plaster cast of that one. You can see the 5 toes and I got the length and width. The length is roughly over 14 inches and the width--I think because it's so deteriorated and spread out -- I got 8 inches across. So, it makes for a big foot. HAVE YOU, OR HAS ANYONE YOU KNOW, RECORDED ANY SOUNDS OF WHAT THEY SAY ARE THESE CREATURES? I had my brother with me one night and we got sounds. But when I say we got sounds -- we didn't have tape recorders. We went into this area and all of a sudden to the right hand side, we heard this very high pitched screech. And it was the longest screech I have ever heard. I've never heard that sound in the Everglades -- mainly because of how long it was. I know basically all the sounds of the panther in the Everglades. And this was not a panther. And it was maybe like 75 yards away and in the tree line. My brother heard it and jumped in the van and shut the door. And as I was opening the door to get into the van, to the left hand side over a water line -- and another 80 yards away -- there was another screech, almost identical to the screech we heard in the tree line to the right. And I got in the van and shut the door and we both looked at each other and said it at the same time, "Bigfoot!" Wait a minute-- two of them.

It was tall (over 7') and it was covered with brown fur. I slowed and watched it disappear into the wooded area along the roadway. It seemed to be moving away from the smoke (as it was extremely smoky in that direction). I didn't have a camera (that won't ever happen again) and I was by myself. Sighting Text:
FL COLLIER 1997 TR96 ELV 15 261510N 0811652W * From:reptlmn@molalla.net (Richard Ritchey) Well, there has been another Bigfoot sighting in the Florida Everglades this month. Down there, it's called a "skunk ape." Even the Seminole Indians in the past century had a phrase: eh-stee jap-jack-ee, which translates roughly as "tall hairy man." This new February eyewitness doesn't want his name or voice on the record for fear of ridicule. But he called James McMullen -- a nature photographer, tracker and author -- who has researched the Florida panther for the past twenty-two years. His book Cry of the Panther, first published in 1984, was a New York Times best seller. Mr. McMullen learned tracking skills as a U. S. Marine who fought in Vietnam. During the August 1997 Bigfoot flap in the Everglades, he tried to find physical evidence that might prove whether the "skunk ape" was truly unusual or simply a mis-identification of brown bears. \ ***He was exploring north of the Big Cypress Preserve when he finally had his own encounter. Tonight, we'll first hear about a phone call he received this week from a farmer who had been riding his horse through a remote area called the Devil's Garden. Then, he'll talk about his own encounter. James McMullen: AUDIO # 2 IN -- Jim McMullen: "He said, ‘I saw a skunk ape, man. That's why I'm calling you -- I saw me a skunk ape!' I said, "Well, what did you see.” And then he went into the dark brown coloring. He said that when it saw him, it turned toward the tree line and rapidly walked along a trail where the cows come down to the fence line and just disappeared. And I asked, "How long did you see him?" He said, "Somewhere in the neighborhood of five to maybe seven seconds. "But I saw him! And he was big!" He said it was seven feet tall, maybe weighed about 350 pounds. "But it was the way he looked. He was erect, but leaning forward a little bit." Another thing he said was that when it turned, it saw him and he saw the side of it and when it turned, he saw the back side of it. And he said, "I saw that sucker's butt." (laughed) I asked, "What do you mean?" He said, "I saw his butt." WHAT DID IT LOOK LIKE? And I said, "What do you mean?" And he said, "There weren't no hair on it." That's what he saw. I asked him if he could remember anything else peculiar about it and he said probably the way it swung its arms. And the other thing was how fast it moved when he saw the guy sitting on his horse. I said, "How far were you from it?" He said, "I was pretty far away -- maybe about 75 or 80 yards. I had an inclination to chase him on the horse, but the horse wouldn't move towards him." I thought that was really neat -- the horse saw it, too, and wouldn't go towards it. I asked when he turned his back towards him, did he run? He said, "No, but he walked so fast." He couldn't believe how fast he was walking. He rides over there after the Bigfoot is gone and there wasn't a track in sight. He was up on that high ground, a kind of gravel trail where the cows come down. We've gotten a little rain down here during the winter months, but not that much to where there is a mud line out there in the pine forests. WOULDN'T YOU THINK THAT ANYTHING THAT IS AS HEAVY AS YOU HAVE ESTIMATED AND HE'S ESTIMATED WOULD LEAVE SOME KIND OF TRACKS? Yeah, but he said there was nothing there that he could see. I asked him if he could write all this down for me, but he didn't want to do that. So, I asked him if we could back all this up. I told him I would write all this up and give him a call and he could come over and sign it. And he didn't want to do that. He said, "I know who you are. I know what you've been doing with the panther research and I really admire you for your work. But I'm not going to get involved. I could lose my job." Click.

Sighting Text:
AND WHAT SHIFTED YOUR ATTENTION FROM THE PANTHER TO THESE ANOMALOUS SIGHTINGS BY SEVERAL EYEWITNESSES OF THIS PRIMATE CREATURE? On August 23rd, (1997) at 2:30 in the afternoon, daylight hours -- and over on the right, I glanced over to the right hand side 35 feet away -- next to trees underneath a sable palm frond was this gorilla standing there. That was the absolute first impression I got. Yeah, I was out looking for, tracking the phenomenon of Bigfoot. But I did not have it in my head that I would ever see one. I saw a gorilla! 35 feet away. AND WHAT EXACTLY WERE YOU SEEING IN DETAIL IN THAT FACE? Well, that's the interesting part. Even though I'm a researcher and have been for almost 23 years -- it was a very shocking event that was taking place and it was seconds. I would say from beginning to end, it was 35 seconds. But the actual sighting of actually seeing him was 8 to 9 seconds (meaning the Bigfoot's face). But I saw him underneath the sable palm tree. I saw what I thought was a gorilla standing up right. The thing that threw me was that it was a gorilla all the way down to the waist and then it had two long, oak tree type legs. And he was standing there with his arms hanging down along side him and could see his chest moving up and down, breathing very hard. WHEN YOU SAY TWO LONG OAK TREE TYPE LEGS, WHAT DO YOU MEAN? Well, backtracking a little bit. Knowing gorillas, seeing pictures of them and seeing them on the Discovery Channel -- they are huge down to the waist and suddenly they have these little skinny bowed legs -- there is not much to their legs at all. Well, this particular species did not have the small bowed legs. It had long human like legs and both of the legs were covered with a deep, dark chocolate fur or hair on them. But they were long. They weren't short or bowed. They were long which made this species exceptionally tall. LIKE ABOUT? Well, I measured it. After the incident, I went back the next day and went to where he was standing and measured up under the sable palm where the top of his head was and that went 6 feet 8 inches, conservatively. His face was back up in the shadow, but the sun was shining on the top rear of his head. It had a sloped back, sort of cone-shaped head, it sloped back and you could see short fur -- with the sun shining on it, it was lighter brown than what was on the rest of the body. So, I didn't really see his face. It was all shadowed in there. I could see the outline, but I couldn't see his eyes and nose. I couldn't see his face. WHAT ABOUT HANDS? Well, his arms were hanging down along the side of his body, extremely long arms and hands. The fir was longer on the arms. It was a male and I say it because you could see his chest and there were no breasts on the chest and no hair up on his pectorals or down on his stomach. But I have to tell you that the skin was colored with kind of caramel color. It wasn't black or white. It was like caramel. I could definitely see that. AND IT WAS SKIN NOT COVERED WITH HAIR? From the angle I was looking at 35 feet, him standing in shadow with a little bit of sunlight there, I could not see any hair on his pectorals or stomach, but the hair picked up at his hips and legs. Longer hair on the arms and on the body, it seemed. AND YOU COULD SEE THAT HAIRLESS CHEST MOVING AS IF... He was breathing hard. I could see his chest heaving. I was both fascinated at what I was looking at, but also frightened. I was glad I was inside the van. If I had been walking up through there 35 feet away, I wonder what he would have done? And wondering after all this when I calmed down a little bit, what was he doing there standing there to begin with? He wasn't there when I went down there to begin with -- or at least I didn't see him standing there before. But when I came back up, there he was standing there. He could have been back further in the trees. MAYBE HE WAS CURIOUS ABOUT THE NOISE OF YOUR TRUCK? I'll bet you money that's right. Some people said the van would scare him off, but it didn't. It was like I was hit with an electric wire -- my whole body was in super stun from it. And I panicked --I didn't know I did it unconsciously -- my foot hit the gas and I surged ahead and then slammed on the brake and put it in reverse and went back to where he was and he was gone. BUT DID YOU FIND ANY TRACKS? Even when I went back the next day, there were no tracks underneath the sable palm. Where he was standing, there was high level grass -- even the next day it was all pushed down. But there were no tracks there. So, what I did was super back track him from there. I spent the whole day out there. I didn't get one track. Not until 13 months later did I finally get a track and I can't really tell you that those tracks were of my sighting in the tree line. AND 13 MONTHS LATER IS WHEN?

FL HERNANDO 1969-80 TR#88 * Hernando County, Florida, between Brooksville and Spring Hill. Events took place between 1969-1980. Over the 11 year period Bigfoot tracks were found, fences with barbed wire pushed down and wrapped with moss and lodged over by sticks. If you repaired them, they would be back down by the next morning. A pony had her mane tied in the fence, and other horses would stand by the hour staring at the woods. There were at the time four square miles of woods and pastures with no roads. Tracks were found in the field. The roof had been removed from more than one dog house. The neighbors had stock attacked. Dogs in the kennel started to bark at 2AM one morning. As witness went out the back door he glanced towards the small dog house of mother’s Chihuahua. A “being” was sitting on the wood pile. It was described as a large silver-colored creature and all it did was calmly watch witness. Witness talked to old-timer neighbors and they said several creatures had been seen over the years. A friend at animal control at the time said there was a report of a creature coming out of a gully that ran through town and was playing on a child’s swing..

Wildlife photographer working at Juniper Prairie; Ocala National Forest; Florida; January 11; 1990; 11:15 AM; bright and sunny; 75 degrees. The long prairie was chest high with dead grass of a light tan color. I came around a corner and there was a very large black shape; about 200 yards ahead of me. It was not moving and at first I though it was a stump; but my tent was a 100 yards to the left of this thing; and I knew that it had not been there when I left this morning. It was at this point that it bent back down; I saw another pine tree twenty of so yards ahead and I sprinted for the tree. About half way there this bear stood back up looking in my direction...I knew that I was spotted. I had a 135 mm lens on the camera and looked through the lens and it was still only a small image. Having three shots in the camera I watched through the lens and it spun around to look at the fringe of the woods. I expected the bear to drop down on all fours and sprint the 50 or so yards to the woods. I prepared to shoot when it headed for the woods running like a man on two legs swinging its arms. Its arms were almost to its knees. My mouth fell open and I went into shock and never snapped the lens. Night came and about 1:30 AM something let out this blood curdling scream. I have spent a thousand nights in the woods; and am trained to observe animals in the woods. I know what lives there and what everything sounds like. I had never heard anything like this...ever. About a minute later it did it again. I knew that it had to be what I had seen earlier in the day. It continued to screech about once a minute for about 30 minutes. I picked up my walking stick and flashlight and left my tent and started to follow the call. Thinking back on this I must of been insane; however I felt no fear. I followed these screeches for about 20 minutes without seeing anything., inches 2.83.33.73.33.97.27.97.45.72.92.12.552.9 Ocala °F 57.459.465.570.375.980.181.581.379.272.565.359.470.7 Begin civil twilight 11:56 Sunrise 12:22 Sun transit 17:35 Sunset 22:48 End civil twilight 23:13 Moonrise 22:21 on preceding day Moon transit 05:38 Moonset 12:48 Moonrise 23:28 Moonset 13:30 on following day Full Moon on 11 January 1990 at 04:57 Universal Time.,

Steven and his partner saw two Bigfeet, a male and a female, heading toward a palmetto scrub. It was fair, partly cloudy weather and 80 degrees. There were large oaks and the ground was covered with acorns. The area dry and sandy and had a heavy palmetto shrub growth near a deep cypress swamp. Tracks were not found in the area of dry leaves and acorns. The taller buckskin or lighter brown 6.5 foot male was walking hunched over, and then the 5’5” female with breasts came into view. It was completely black with breasts and was carrying something around the waist with both hands. They were in the 200 pound range, minimum. Their speed picked up somewhat when they saw the witnesses, but they made no sounds and there was no odor.

FL PASCO 1984 TR#85 * In June, 1984, witness was near Crews Lake, about 10 miles south of the Pasco/Hernando County lines, FL. This is west of Hy. 41. Witness was in a field on the edge of a woods next to a swamp-marsh area. The 8 foot creature seemed to be watching witness and friend, but ran off into the swamp when they tried to get closer to see what it was. They noticed it when it made a howl/growl type of noise, and we approached, it was crouched down slightly, then stood up as they got close. It had shredded the bark from the tree it was behind. When they did realize what it was, they immediately left the area (“got the hell outta’ there”)., instead of following it into the swamp...the witnesses were all armed. It was very agile and had long arms. In 1988 or ‘99, witness had another incident in the same area. Two abandoned houses, and they were sitting inside one of them when they heard something walking towards the house at night through the 5-6 foot high grass. Something then hit the side of the house as if thrown. Witness left very quickly. The next day saw a path where something had walked through the grass.

Sighting Text:
FL TR25 * Jackson Moore (also see photos for this particular Florida report) moved to Florida, and in 1979 when a county road project penetrated an old Indian burial ground, the state archeologist Frank Garcia investigated. Finding nothing of interest, he declared the site "open," which meant artifact hunters could come in and take what they wanted, paying the state of Florida a fee. They found the remains of a midden that had mostly been carted off for landfill, originally 180 feet high, Jackson said. This was on a 40 acre undeveloped parcel adjacent to the Alifi River. They ran a discovery trench from a nearby drainage ditch and located the remains of a Tumuccuan or Caloosa Indian. The bones were of a warrior and were surrounded by four human trophy skulls. Lying on a sea shell bed, the warrior skeleton in a flexed position had been covered with ochre and surrounded by a ring of conch shells. Continuing the dig, Jackson and his friend located another set of bones, only when assembled, the "Indian" was 7 1/2 or 8 foot tall, and the decapitated but nearby skull had 36 teeth (we have 32). The rear two extra molars were set at a 15 percent angle to the jaw line. There was a high forehead, but a very heavy brow. The bones of the thumb were as long as the equal length fingers, and the skeleton had six toes, all the same length. The state archeologist still has a legal suit pending to recover the unusual bones, Jackson says, which are still stored at his friends house.

FL SAINT JOHNS 1984-85 TR#92 * BFRO Report from ShannonS. Concerns a St. Augustine,St. Johns County, Florida report. From a swamp near some railroad tracks on Florida's East coast. Secondhand report from Dave S., Oct or Nov 1984 or 1985. Dave and friend were horseback riding southward along the FEC RR tracks between SR207 and Kings Estate Road. They noted a "dead" smell and thought a hog or something was dead in the woods. Then there were branches breaking as something moved in the woods. The horses started blowing and rearing, but as the riders passed the area, they calmed down. Something was heard behind walking up the side of the tracks, crunching rocks as it moved. Witness turned to look and about 150 yards away was a creature standing in the middle ofthe tracks. It was slightly crouched, slim, covered in reddish brown hair, long arms, eyes little, about 6.5 feet tall, about 250 pounds, no neck, and staring at us. It was getting dark enough so no facial detail could be seen, and the horses started acting up again so they got out ofthere. Reported to: David Sidoti (Bigfoot researcher) DMSPCMan@aol.com

Sighting Text:
FL WAKULLA 1996 TR100 301230N 0844000W In March, 1996 Jason saw a Skunk Ape traveling from Pensacola to the east edge of the Apalachicola State Forest, near Tallahassee, FL. It was 4:15 AM, and a friend, Dennis, was next to him. They saw something 100 yards away on the side of the road, doing 50 mph. At 50 yards he flashed the bright lights, and saw a Skunk Ape squatted by a fallen tree and picking something apart (fallen bird nest?) and eating it. At 25 yards, having slowed to 20-30 mph, they could see the female breasts and swaying hips, very very wide, and the creature had an hour glass shape. It looked nothing like the Patty of Bluff Creek fame. It was more feminine, and had a small head compared to the shoulders. He believes headlights ruined the creatures night vision, and when it returned, she lept off on the right foot into the forest, some 30 foot to the leap, and took off rapidly. The eyes reflected red in the light, the hands were pink and smooth with long, slender fingers. The knuckles were stained purple and also on the nose. There was not a lot of hair, but white on the face, blonde on the body. The hair covered the breasts and you could see a lot of splotches. She was also severely knock-kneed.
