NC 1997 TR89 * The Green Swamp Monster, report from GSARC_GA@webmail.bellsouth.net (Georgia Swamp Ape List). North Carolina, Hy. 211. Witness and friend were collecting rattlesnakes in large swamp in SErn NC in August, 1997. Only finding two snakes that morning, they were headed home. Near the club house of a black bear hunting club, they came around a blind corner, and there was what appeared at first to be a small black bear at the trash can...it stood up and looked directly at the snake hunters, and was 4-5 foot tall, dark gray-black (gray on chest and stomach), face remarkable...expression of fear when it saw them at 20 yards away, arms notably long, no hair on the hands, and legs appeared to be normal, except bowed when it ran away. The two tracks found were small. It lumbered into the swamp.

NC 2000 TR93 354344N 0814646W * Tim C. of Glen Alpine, NC, Jan. 8th, in the afternoon Tim was walking his two dogs (Chihuahua mix - T-Rex, and a multi-mix-Mr. Bojangles) along an isolated road, not more than a mile long, woods around for miles, and steep hill at one end with a sharp curve at the other “I was walking my dogs along, it was rainy and kind of misty, we got to the top of the hill when T-Rex(my Chihuahua mix) started to get a little spooked. We went on a little further when Rex suddenly stopped and growled at something in the woods. The hair was standing up along her back, she was really concentrating on whatever she saw. I looked real hard but could not see what she did. Then, there was kind of a smell that I haven’t smelled before. It was extremely strong and almost nauseating (I work part-time in an ER so it had to be really strong to get me sick!). I was getting an un-easy feeling about this situation so I turned around and started back to town. Rex pulled me all the way.”

TR 61 SEPT 96 we visited Jim and Diane Banks in their trailer house. Shirley had a couple of tales from the Carolinas. Around 1917 or so, near Greensboro, NC, three men in a mountain cabin with no windows open, heard a scream/howl noise. Whatever it was came on their wooden porch, and they could hear the thing's teeth clicking. They opened a shutter and saw a huge thing on two legs that made a loud scream. One of the three men was her dad.

NC ONSLOW 1987 TR#74 * From the Internet, Matt Moneymaker’s BFRO Data Base. In mid-July, 1987, 8:45 PM, at the edge of Onslow County, NC, about 25 miles from Hampstead. At dusk witness had headlights on and heading 60 mph towards the beach. A large hairy thing was in the road and he slammed on brakes to swerve around it, but glanced it anyway as it bounced over the passenger side of the convertible. Witness stopped and the 7 to 7 1/2 creature got up and came at the witness, and from 25 feet away the smell was terrible, hanging in the air like a wet blanket. It had reddish-brown matted hair, a hairless face, and looked mad. Witness sped away, and creature ran down the road after him. Took weeks for raw sewage smell on car to go away. There was a dent on rear passenger side with hair on it.

* Feb 95, TR#44 INTERNET computer report, credit to Henry Franzoni. When grown up, witness met a friend, B.V., who had been in Goldsboro, NC, when he was 14- or 15. BV thought he was unique in hearing of the Wampus Cat at his Grandfather's house, about 12 miles from McDaniel's trailer park where I had lived. BV had seen a Wampus Cat and tracked it with his grandfather and his hunting dogs several times. Creature considered a hassle rather than a threat, constantly destroying his garden and eating wild berries off bushes, ripping the whole plants up by the roots. BV had a mid-sixties black and white photo. They had just poured a cement floor for a barn. That night dogs went nuts, and next morning two were dead with necks broken, and there were paw prints and two huge inhuman footprints in the cement.
