TR 77 MAY 98 Don KEATING has had two Bigfoot sightings of his own. The first on Sept. 15th, 1985. The very tall, rapidly walking creature, was heading towards a chicken coop and was only 35 feet away from him. There was a full moon, but he couldn’t see the face, but did note the very bulky, 9 foot, creature left him white as a ghost and shaking like a leaf.

* After having lived in the great state of Alaska for ten years, and never seeing a forest Wildman, I was totally amazed at actually seeing an alleged Sasquatch here, in Ohio where I was born. Although, at a distance of about 150 to 200 yards, I am absolutely sure the individual was not a human figure. It's enormous size would dispute any thought I had, at it being human. Also, at that time of day, which was about 4:30 to 5:00 PM, it didn't make any sense to me that a person would be ENTERING the woods, as it was growing increasingly darker outside. This sighting, occurred in 1988, while I was at the wheel of my produce delivery truck. This particular individual was moving at a rather rapid pace, faster than any man I had ever seen walking or even running, for that matter, in the woods. It's gait was fluid and it seemed to have no trouble whatsoever, navigating through the leafless scrub and briar bushes, that inhabit much of this section of Southeast Ohio. It was moving so fast, that by the time I got my truck stopped, it was already out of my view. In 1993, I and my research assistant, decided to go camping in the area in which I made the sighting in 1988. Unfortunately, the land was privately owned, so access was denied. However, I did find a camp site about a mile from that spot, and settled in to observe all that I could for a couple of days. On the second night out, I had noticed it had become oddly quiet, unlike the previous night's chorus of tree frogs, crickets, and night birds. I had been reading a book called, oddly enough, "The Joy of Camping", and as my eyes were growing increasingly tired, I and my assistant decided to turn in. Our fire was just a mass of glowing embers, so making sure it wouldn't spread out, we said good-night. It was not long afterwards, that we started hearing what sounded like a warbling bird. It was like a fluttering whistle, coming from below and above the tent. This lasted for some time, probably about 45 minutes. About this time, the sound of a very large tree branch snapping, alerted us to the area above us. Quietly, we listened for any other sounds, then out of a clear dark sky, came a howl/scream that could have awakened the dead for miles around us. It really shook me to my very breadth. It sounded like an air-raid siren, that is from low to high, very high, emanating only a few yards from the back of the tent. Just after that, the sounds of barking, crazy, dogs jolted us into an eerie awareness. We listened for a while, then the sounds of the tree frogs, crickets, and night birds, started coming back into an audible existence. Waking early the next morning, it was off to do some scouting of the area in which we heard the howl/scream. On a hillside, at a measured distance of 35 feet, my assistant found what we both took as a five toed footprint on dirt in which leaves had been kicked aside. I took measurements, and were found to be: 13 1/2 inches long, 5 1/2 inches across the ball, and 4 1/2 inches across the heel. I did make a plaster cast of it, although in my inexperience, I had mixed it too thickly, and just three toes and the heel really came out well. However, I did take photographs of the print and it does show the toes and print very nicely. Nothing else happened the rest of our time out that week. In retrospect, I thought that maybe a couple of things that I had done, drew the creature to us. One, was playing my harmonica, along with my guitar. Another, was breaking large branches of wood across a tree stump. I was just breaking them up for firewood. I may have unintentionally signaled to this creature. Maybe, it was the smell of fresh coffee, which was a constant in our camp. It could have been one or all of these things that drew it's attention. In 1994, I decided to take a trip to that very same spot. It was Labor Day. I was going to have two days off, in a row, so off I went. I had worked about 17 hours driving my truck that day, and had driven the 90 or so miles to the camp site. With me was two tape recorders, something I didn't have with me in 1993. After arriving at my destination, I put the recorders, with brand new tape, and batteries, over each of my front tires on the hood of my van. Equipped with Auto Voice Controls, I turned them on and proceeded to climb into my sleeping bag which was in the Conversion Vans bed. After such a long day and drive, I fell asleep almost instantly. My research partner, knew I would be there, and was told to meet me after work. At around Midnight, my partner arrived and woke me up. I then went to gather the tape recorders, because while I was asleep, a heavy, wet, fog had come in. As I reached for the recorders, I noticed that they were now both in the middle of the van hood. Not where I had placed them at 9:30 that evening. Did my partner move them? "No" was the reply. As we entered the van, it was observed, my AAA compass was spinning wildly in circles, on it's own. We watched it in amazement for what seemed like about ten minutes. All of a sudden it came to a complete stop. On it's own. The next morning, I rewound the tapes to have a listen. There on both tapes, came a voice of unknown origin and of an unknown language. No one, who has listened to the tape, can decipher it. Later, I had it analyzed at Kent State (Ohio) University, Speech Path Audiology Department. Professor Richard Klich examined it. His findings were thus: The subject, as he called it, was speaking in a range, that would make it a tenor. The subjects vocal tract was determined to be 17 centimeters long, which would put the subjects height at about slightly less than 6 feet. Also, he termed the recorded subject as being "Spontaneously recorded", meaning the subject that imprinted the tape, would have had to have been standing directly in front of the tape recorders. I have pondered this recording for some years now, and I believe this about the maker of the tape recording. 1. I believe the subject to be a young Sasquatch, that is, not a fully mature specimen. My reasoning for this, is the uncharacteristically high pitched voice of the subject. It is not like some of the loud, booming recordings I have heard on other recordings from around the country. 2. On a micro-cassette tape, with the same speech sounds, it is clearly evident, the creature(subject) picked up the recorder and began sniffing and growling into it. In doing so, it played with the buttons, but luckily, didn't turn it off. 3. This area, as reported to me by Jim Davis, has been known over some 20 years or more to have a lot of eerie screams, noises, and sightings. It is prime Bigfoot country. There is one thing about this incident that puzzles me, however. It is the compass. I can not explain this phenomenon. What could have caused it to spin on it's own like that? A few days after the bow hunter's incident, the bow hunter's [the bow hunter had seen a Bigfoot trying to approach deer some days before JR] friend, Mike, while sitting in his kitchen, noticed the entire deer herd grazing close to the house. He sat at a table and watched the herd through the kitchen window for some time. As the deer grazed quietly the owner heard a knocking sound coming from a wooded hillside overlooking the field with the deer. The knocking sound, which sounded like a piece of wood being hit against a tree trunk, was answered a moment later by a similar knocking sound coming from a wooded slope closer to his house. A moment after that, from the first hill, came a short, loud, growling roar. In response, the deer herd bolted in panic toward the closer tree line -- at the base of the slope where the answering knock came from. "The following day Mike decided to take a walk in the woods with his dog. He hiked up the nearby slope to a gated dirt road leading to a watertank back in the woods. Walking along that drive he found a couple of manlike footprints, 14" x 6", very clearly imprinted in the mud on the edge of the road. He continued up the road to the water tank with his dog. Up at the tank his dog wandered into the trees and Mike followed. The dog led him to, what appeared to be, the recently killed carcass of a young deer. Mike continued to look around and found two more young deer carcasses. On each of the deer at least one of the legs were broken. These fractures were very noticeable as the limbs were violently twisted and contorted. The semi-frozen carcasses were otherwise basically intact (they had been nibbled on by small animals), there were no bullet or bolt wounds, and there was no other major trauma except for around the belly, which had been ripped open. The deer's intestines were still attached but had been pulled out of the belly and left in a pile along side the belly. "Over the next few days the owner, his wife, and other neighbors also noticed these same inexplicable knocking sounds emanating from the woods at various times of day and night. TR 80 AUG 1998 * Sunday, 8/16 Matt and his wife were being watched by a Bigfoot a mile from their home in northeastern Ohio when they were in the woods engaging in coitus. The incident caught his interest and he has returned to study the creature. There’s a family of four, the Old Man, gray, and 8 foot, he came face to face with Sunday. It was human he said...no way an ape...there was no hair on its face. They were staring at each other, and so intent was the Bigfoot that a deer blundered into him, and he angrily swatted it away. The 8-point buck was knocked off balance. They had been whistling, but when two deer came by and one bumped the creature, it shrieked loudly. The gray creature left 17 inch tracks. Matt lives on 19 acres of wilderness towards Canada, and the area has peaches, plums, pears and paw-paws. A neighbor lady complained that a “Big Man” was in her garbage can. He measured tracks 15” by 7” near the garage. There was a young female, sort of pretty in the face, Matt said. Not that he’d want to date her...she was 6’5”, 400 pounds, and only ten yards away. She screeched three times, and he could see the mouth open. The creatures are associated with a god-awful smell of poop-sweat. He just bought a 35 mm camera and wants to take some photos.

Kevin, in the summer of 1983, a very strange thing happened to me that I will never be able to forget. I was living with my parents, where they still reside, 2 miles outside of West Union, Ohio. I was 18 at the time. At about 1:00 AM, I pulled into the family driveway. I had a tape in my car stereo I wanted to bring into the house with me. As I ejected the tape from the stereo, it fell on the floor of the car. I turned on the interior light to pick it up, when I heard the sound of something coming out of the woods across from my house. We lived in a subdivision, laid out in circles with woods in-between and gravel roads. What I heard was the sound of footsteps. Not just footsteps, but heavy footsteps, crossing the gravel road, which was behind my car. My first impression was that a person or a large dog was approaching. What struck me as odd, was I only heard two footsteps on the gravel road. By this time I was scared and curious at the same time. I could see nothing out of my rearview mirror because of the dome light and frankly was too frozen with fear of what was going on outside of my car to turn it off. I heard very deep breathing accompanied by very low growls. It walked to the right hand side of my car, then back again, all the time breathing and growling. Not loudly, but not softly. Suddenly it struck the back of my car violently enough to physically move the car three inches on my parents driveway, and enough to wake my mother in their upstairs bedroom. At the time of this encounter there were no lights on at the house except the doorbell light. At the sound of it striking my car, my mother opened a balcony door and asked me what all the ruckus was. At this point, whatever it was bolted away from the car, crossed the road with one step (of this I am certain) and crashed into the woods like a herd of buffalo. My mother ran downstairs, turned on the outside lights and called to me, “what the hell was that?” It took her at least a couple of minutes to coax me out of the car and into the house. The whole time we could hear crashing in the woods. When I finally reached the front door of our house an odd scream rang from the distance. It was almost like a woman scram, not in pain but kind of like she was being tickled against her will. The next morning I looked across the road for some kind of tracks or something, but in the middle of summer everything was to dry. I tried to talk to my mother about it but she wouldn’t even broach the subject. I am now living in Wyoming, but four years ago I approached my mother about this on a visit. She did agree that something was out there that night, something that neither one of us could explain. Other than the tire marks from the shove and my undying memories of that night, I have nothing to substantiate my claim, but I have no doubts at all that what I encountered that night was something people know nothing about. * Very interesting! I was in Columbiana County, Ohio in the winter of 1997? doing an investigation. Would have to check my files for exact date! Anyway, we hiked down a very steep ravine where the property owners claimed that at least two Bigfoot creatures had lived during the warmer months of the year. Once down to the bottom, we found one dead deer fully intact (backbone crushed or twisted) and one mess of something in a circular pattern like you explained on your post. The hair scattered within this 12 foot wide circle was all over the place like something had squatted down and ate its kill in a voracious matter. The hair was from a deer but not the one fully intact. We looked for bones but found none! What ever ate this deer? literally tore it apart while eating it and left the other under some brush for a possible later meal? I have never seen anything like this ever since. OH COSHOCTON 1997 TR#73 * Mark DeWerth, Jan 27, 1998. This is a picture of an alleged Bigfoot track found on April 12th, 1997, by a woman in rural Coshocton County, Ohio. There was a series of tracks (6 to 7) in a straight line leading up to a gravel road into a pine forest. I arrived at the scene on 4-19 with Don Keating of Newcomerstown, OH, and to our amazement the tracks still showed very well in the 5-6 inch high grass thanks to a beautiful sunny day. The amazing thing about this particular track was how well you could make out the toes and general shape of the foot. At the heel the track depth was over 4 inches. Measurements were as follows; 18 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide at the ball, 5 1/4 inches wide at the heel, impressed over four inches in depth. The series of tracks were heading up a slight incline. The distance between each track averaged 54 inches. If only they were in soft soil. In my opinion these would be impossible to fake due to them being in short field grass and travelling up an incline. Just as a side note, these tracks were found less than 200 yards away from the famous Don Keating, Aug. 2, 1992, sighting of an alleged white Bigfoot.

OH COSHOCTON 1999 TR#89 * Hawk and Karen S. report, July 21, 1999. From: snowdeer@webtv.net (Karen S) Coshocton County, Ohio. Well we have had a lot of activity here for the past several months. We have found foot prints beside our garden, below our bedroom window and in the creek behind our home. We have heard sounds that would make the dead rise--screams, howls, hollers. We have had things hit our trailer at night -- sometimes it sounded like it was rocks hitting it and sometimes it sounded like something was actually knocking on it. Our dog used to bark at everything that came in the yard. Now he hardly ever barks at all. As you probably heard Hawk had a sighting of three creatures on May 27th. I know how hard that was for some people to believe, but it was never-the-less true. We started putting out a bait box with different kinds of food in it to see if we could draw the big guy close enough to get a good solid set of foot prints. Saturday July 17th, Hawk was out checking the bait box. He came back inside to get the video camera to take a shot of some claw marks he found under the bait box. He was recording the claw marks when he heard the sound of breaking branches and a loud high pitched sound.He turned around to look towards the sounds. The video camera was still on. He aimed the camera toward the sounds and started recording. He thought he saw something move so he zoomed in and out and back in again. He came in shortly after that and said he thought he got something on video. We put the tape in the VCR and we saw this thing like a face. We did a still frame on our webtv and uploaded it to our home page so it would blow it up a little bit. The image we sent is the first one we uploaded. In the video you can see the eyes blink at least twice and the head move to the side a little bit. I know what we think it is and we hope we are right. Until someone proves to us that it is not a face of a Bigfoot we will continue to believe that it is. We watched that 22 seconds of video over and over again. The wind was not blowing so it was not the movement of the leaves we saw. You can see where the sunlight is touching the cheek on this face. We went out the next day at the same time with the video camera and aimed it at the place where the face was. There was nothing there. We have had several people come to see the tape and they all agreed that it looked liked a face. One person told us it looked like the face of a primitive man. I guess everyone will have to decide for themselves what they think it is. We believe Bigfoot is behind our home. We have come to consider him/her a friend. God knows if he/she wanted to harm us he/she has had numerous chances. We want to prove that Bigfoot exists without harming them. We are not sure how to do this but when the time comes I am sure we will know what to do. I don’t feel we will learn the truth until the time is right and we are meant to learn it.

Breasts drooped to the waist and the hips were very wide, though the waist was quite skinny by comparison. Across the pond he saw another very tall male, 8 1/2 feet, and decided to leave. Summary: 200 LITTLEFOOT TRACKS 6.5 AND 4.5 IN AFTER USING GAME CALL

TR 77 MAY 98 based on the April meeting of Don’s study group. The speaker was Mark Francis of Twinsburg, Ohio. Francis brought several plaster tracks and photos of a site in the Wills Creek Basin, August, 1997, where he and his girlfriend had been in the rugged area with dangerous cliffs hunting coyote. He used a wounded rabbit and wounded fawn calls. Coyotes were howling from the nearby ridge. They heard moaning noises behind them coming closer and closer, got spooked thinking it might be a bear, and left. The next day he returned at 2 PM, there being a light rain that night, and he found “little barefoot tracks,” about 200 of them by count. They went all over the area in mud (seepage from the pond), next to the pond, in oil slick (natural oil in the area), and on top of his tire-tread marks from the night before. The tracks were of two creatures gamboling about the area. One set was 6 1/2 inches long, 4” at the ball, and 3” at the heel. The other was 4 1/2 inches long. They were five-toed. The tracks were very wide with no arch, and Mark plaster casted several of them. No large tracks were found, even after searching the surrounding area. There was no reason to believe the tracks were of human children in that remote area.

In March of 1986 at 4:30 PM, Diane was driving by, near her trailer home, watching the field next to the woods for deer, commonly seen, and she saw a Bigfoot instead. "It was very big...walking upright, leaning foreword, arms at knee length. It was black or very dark brown, and had a high crown, and an ape-like face...1 felt sorry' for it, it didn't wanna' be seen," Diane said.

TR 61 SEPT 96 Next we went to Muddy Lane, 6 miles west of Plainfield. The area was beautiful, a 100 foot wall of sandstone edging a water filled trough. Betty Parks, Don Keating, et al, brought John Green here in the winter cold of 1989. He had a tough time negotiating a mound, Betty said, sliding a bit. I shot a few photos, but their was a terrific downpour of rain from the approaching eye of the tropical storm. We sat in the car, soaked, and I asked Betty to tell me of "Little Goldenrod." On November 1, 1988 we came to the area and , Richard Myers said, "do you smell that?" Like burning tires, Betty said. Then they heard a God-awful sound...like something caught in the nearby quicksand near Robinson's Run, an underground River nearby. The sound was like an elephant, she said..."it's coming right at us." There was something behind us in the goldenrod, and Richard flashed the light at it and saw eyes. There was a little head and shoulders, but the little, young, Bigfoot wasn't interested in us, Betty said, but was eyeing a white sack with the remains of a fish sandwich in it.

TR 61 SEPT 96 Three miles southwest of Coshocton, we visited Jim and Diane Banks in their trailer house. A half mile from their house, in the winter of 1992, near the ice of a small lake, a pig was found torn in two, Jim said. Parts of the 500-600 pound pig had the insides hanging out, and a pile of dung with pig hair was found nearby. There was ice in the lake, which reminded me of an Indian tale I published earlier, where mastodon parts were left in a lake to keep the meat fresh. Shirley and Jim thought it might have been an animal mutilation," but the most recent UFO sighting there was a 1990 sighting, where a strange row of red lights was seen blinking, then turning white, and back to red again.

OH COSHOCTON 1993 TR#71 * Book review. “Bigfoot In Ohio- Encounters with the Grassman.” Christopher L. Murphy, Joedy Cook, and George Clappison, of the Ohio Bigfoot Research & Study Group. Here’s a fascinating little gem with some real surprises for the researcher. The first portion is rather standard; lay of the land, Bigfoot In The News, 27 pages of photos and drawings, and such lore. What first caught my real attention was a chapter, “Ohio Deer Kills and Bigfoot.” Here I ran into some real meat (pun unintended). Matt Moneymaker was the source of this information. Matt’s 1992 investigation started with a hunter , stalking deer in Stark County, that had a creature approach him within 35 feet, scaring a small herd of deer away. Just after sundown, the creature saw the hunter, screamed several times, and retreated. A few days later, deer appeared again, and the hunter noted knocks of wood on a tree trunk that were answered from nearby. It is speculated that this is part of a “scare and catch” tactic by the Bigfeet, to drive deer into an ambush. Later, with his dog, tracks of Bigfoot were seen and a young deer carcass was found with a broken leg, no bullet wounds, and intact except for the belly ripped open. Later Matt investigated a sighting in Guernsey County. The farmer told of young dead deer where the legs had been broken and twisted around, the bodies left to rot. Matt returned in a few days with his wife, a medical doctor, to examine the carcasses, and she found that the belly had been ripped open and the liver was missing. Matt noted that all the dead deer had legs broken and speculated that a heavy tree branch might have been used while rushing the deer. As to why the livers were gone. It was noted that it has substantial amounts of vitamins that could be depleted in the fall and winter. Vitamin A, is critical for night vision and skin thickening, or callous formation through keratinization. Also, 90% of cholesterol production, building block of hormones, is found in this organ. There were other benefits of liver eating - like medical, mentioned...read the book and see. *** Another deer kill took Matt to Coshocton County in 1993 where he talked to a resident that had a sighting that had so moved the witness, that he erected a Bigfoot cut-out and put a sign on his barn reading “Sasquatch Valley.” Don Keating took me to this place last year when I visited Ohio. I took a photo, but the one by Peggy Tillman is much better, so I’ll reproduce it here. The witness had found deer tracks and eventually came to a natural overhang or cave where he found a number of severed deer legs neatly arranged side-by-side. Later, he was terrified when a Bigfoot entered the cave, but it did nothing. The machinist stared and backed away on the opposite side of the overhang (you really must read the whole account to appreciate). No other deer parts were found and it’s conceivable that the legs were for future consumption.

TR 73 JAN 98. Marc DeWerth of Cleveland, OH, also agreed that one of his most interesting encounters in the field was when he was standing with Richard Myers and heard the chest beating. Another of DeWerth’s encounters was the filming of apparently a primate-type of individual in the thick underbrush on April 20, 1997. This was located in the Wills Creek area of southern Coshocton Co., OH. The film is currently being worked on by Dave Bittner of Baltimore, MD.

TR 73 JAN 98 * Mark DeWerth, Jan 27, 1998. This is a picture of an alleged Bigfoot track found on April 12th, 1997, by a woman in rural Coshocton County, Ohio. There was a series of tracks (6 to 7) in a straight line leading up to a gravel road into a pine forest. I arrived at the scene on 4-19 with Don Keating of Newcomerstown, OH, and to our amazement the tracks still showed very well in the 5-6 inch high grass thanks to a beautiful sunny day. The amazing thing about this particular track was how well you could make out the toes and general shape of the foot. At the heel the track depth was over 4 inches. Measurements were as follows; 18 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide at the ball, 5 1/4 inches wide at the heel, impressed over four inches in depth. The series of tracks were heading up a slight incline. The distance between each track averaged 54 inches. If only they were in soft soil. In my opinion these would be impossible to fake due to them being in short field grass and traveling up an incline. Just as a side note, these tracks were found less than 200 yards away from the famous Don Keating, Aug. 2, 1992, sighting of an alleged white Bigfoot.

TR 75 MAR 98 Was able to talk to Mark Francis, and we sat together at dinner along with his companion Terry. He told me an interesting story of the two of them being at Wills Creek near Coshcocton, OH, August of 1997, and finding some 200 barefoot tracks only 4 inches or 6 1/2 inches long that he plaster casted and photographed. Littlefoot? Or the Little People? There were no adult-size tracks, and they had heard bear-like grunt noises the night before after calling coyote with a wounded rabbit call. The tracks were all over the embankment and in mud. They looked like peas in a pod, squared off, a slight arch. They went back to plaster the tracks, and there were no other new tracks, though his previous tire tracks were still visible. Asked Keating about inviting Mark to be his April speaker, and both agreed. Marc DeWerth will take notes and tell us about the meeting at our May WBS meeting.

TR 89 JUL 1999 * Hawk and Karen S. report, July 21, 1999. From: snowdeer@webtv.net (Karen S) Coshocton County, Ohio. Well we have had a lot of activity here for the past several months. We have found foot prints beside our garden, below our bedroom window and in the creek behind our home. We have heard sounds that would make the dead rise--screams, howls, hollers. We have had things hit our trailer at night -- sometimes it sounded like it was rocks hitting it and sometimes it sounded like something was actually knocking on it. Our dog used to bark at everything that came in the yard. Now he hardly ever barks at all. As you probably heard Hawk had a sighting of three creatures on May 27th. I know how hard that was for some people to believe, but it was never-the-less true. We started putting out a bait box with different kinds of food in it to see if we could draw the big guy close enough to get a good solid set of foot prints. Saturday July 17th, Hawk was out checking the bait box. He came back inside to get the video camera to take a shot of some claw marks he found under the bait box. He was recording the claw marks when he heard the sound of breaking branches and a loud high pitched sound.He turned around to look towards the sounds. The video camera was still on. He aimed the camera toward the sounds and started recording. He thought he saw something move so he zoomed in and out and back in again. He came in shortly after that and said he thought he got something on video. We put the tape in the VCR and we saw this thing like a face. We did a still frame on our webtv and uploaded it to our home page so it would blow it up a little bit. The image we sent is the first one we uploaded. In the video you can see the eyes blink at least twice and the head move to the side a little bit. I know what we think it is and we hope we are right. Until someone proves to us that it is not a face of a Bigfoot we will continue to believe that it is. We watched that 22 seconds of video over and over again. The wind was not blowing so it was not the movement of the leaves we saw. You can see where the sunlight is touching the cheek on this face. We went out the next day at the same time with the video camera and aimed it at the place where the face was. There was nothing there. We have had several people come to see the tape and they all agreed that it looked liked a face. One person told us it looked like the face of a primitive man. I guess everyone will have to decide for themselves what they think it is. We believe Bigfoot is behind our home. We have come to consider him/her a friend. God knows if he/she wanted to harm us he/she has had numerous chances. We want to prove that Bigfoot exists without harming them. We are not sure how to do this but when the time comes I am sure we will know what to do. I don’t feel we will learn the truth until the time is right and we are meant to learn it.

Tr31 As added confirmation of rock piles, a recent phone call with Mark Francis (Director, North American Bigfoot Information Network-NABIN) added more details on rock stacking. The piles are well known from Ohio! In the fall of 1985 in a pine grove near Guernsey, Mark said, rock piles were found in groups of two or three, 8-10 inches high, and with stones 3-4 inches in diameter. The final straw...Mark Francis interviewed a Native-American lady who said her grandfather told her that the Bigfeet creatures stacked the rocks to heat in the sun, and then collect small heat seeking creatures that crawl into the stone-piles at night.

OH GUERNSEY 1992 TR#71 * Book review. “Bigfoot In Ohio- Encounters with the Grassman.” Christopher L. Murphy, Joedy Cook, and George Clappison, of the Ohio Bigfoot Research & Study Group. Here’s a fascinating little gem with some real surprises for the researcher. The first portion is rather standard; lay of the land, Bigfoot In The News, 27 pages of photos and drawings, and such lore. What first caught my real attention was a chapter, “Ohio Deer Kills and Bigfoot.” Here I ran into some real meat (pun unintended). Matt Moneymaker was the source of this information. Matt’s 1992 investigation started with a hunter , stalking deer in Stark County, that had a creature approach him within 35 feet, scaring a small herd of deer away. Just after sundown, the creature saw the hunter, screamed several times, and retreated. A few days later, deer appeared again, and the hunter noted knocks of wood on a tree trunk that were answered from nearby. It is speculated that this is part of a “scare and catch” tactic by the Bigfeet, to drive deer into an ambush. Later, with his dog, tracks of Bigfoot were seen and a young deer carcass was found with a broken leg, no bullet wounds, and intact except for the belly ripped open. *** Later Matt investigated a sighting in Guernsey County. The farmer told of young dead deer where the legs had been broken and twisted around, the bodies left to rot. Matt returned in a few days with his wife, a medical doctor, to examine the carcasses, and she found that the belly had been ripped open and the liver was missing. Matt noted that all the dead deer had legs broken and speculated that a heavy tree branch might have been used while rushing the deer. As to why the livers were gone. It was noted that it has substantial amounts of vitamins that could be depleted in the fall and winter. Vitamin A, is critical for night vision and skin thickening, or callous formation through keratinization. Also, 90% of cholesterol production, building block of hormones, is found in this organ. There were other benefits of liver eating - like medical, mentioned...read the book and see.

OH 1993 TR#91 RICH In 1993, I and my research assistant, decided to go camping in the area in which I made the sighting in 1988. Unfortunately, the land was privately owned, so access was denied. However, I did find a camp site about a mile from that spot, and settled in to observe all that I could for a couple of days. On the second night out, I had noticed it had become oddly quiet, unlike the previous night's chorus of tree frogs, crickets, and night birds. I had been reading a book called, oddly enough, "The Joy of Camping", and as my eyes were growing increasingly tired, I and my assistant decided to turn in. Our fire was just a mass of glowing embers, so making sure it wouldn't spread out, we said good-night. It was not long afterwards, that we started hearing what sounded like a warbling bird. It was like a fluttering whistle, coming from below and above the tent. This lasted for some time, probably about 45 minutes. About this time, the sound of a very large tree branch snapping, alerted us to the area above us. Quietly, we listened for any other sounds, then out of a clear dark sky, came a howl/scream that could have awakened the dead for miles around us. It really shook me to my very breadth. It sounded like an air-raid siren, that is from low to high, very high, emanating only a few yards from the back of the tent. Just after that, the sounds of barking, crazy, dogs jolted us into an eerie awareness. We listened for a while, then the sounds of the tree frogs, crickets, and night birds, started coming back into an audible existence. Waking early the next morning, it was off to do some scouting of the area in which we heard the howl/scream. On a hillside, at a measured distance of 35 feet, my assistant found what we both took as a five toed footprint on dirt in which leaves had been kicked aside. I took measurements, and were found to be: 13 1/2 inches long, 5 1/2 inches across the ball, and 4 1/2 inches across the heel. I did make a plaster cast of it, although in my inexperience, I had mixed it too thickly, and just three toes and the heel really came out well. However, I did take photographs of the print and it does show the toes and print very nicely. Nothing else happened the rest of our time out that week. In retrospect, I thought that maybe a couple of things that I had done, drew the creature to us. One, was playing my harmonica, along with my guitar. Another, was breaking large branches of wood across a tree stump. I was just breaking them up for firewood. I may have unintentionally signaled to this creature. Maybe, it was the smell of fresh coffee, which was a constant in our camp. It could have been one or all of these things that drew it's attention.

The one minute sighting without optical aids occurred while the hunters were resting at a power-line clearing. The wooded, rural area was near farms and it was good light but overcast in the mid-50’s. The creature walked across the clearing near the top of the next ridge to the east, traveling south. Few details were noted at that distance; it appeared dark in color, large and bulky, comparing to a tower crossbeam it was estimated at 9-10 feet

OH MISG MISG TR#80 * Sunday, 8/16 Matt and his wife were being watched by a Bigfoot a mile from their home in northeastern Ohio when they were in the woods engaging in coitus. The incident caught his interest and he has returned to study the creature. There’s a family of four, the Old Man, gray, and 8 foot, he came face to face with Sunday. It was human he said...no way an ape...there was no hair on its face. They were staring at each other, and so intent was the Bigfoot that a deer blundered into him, and he angrily swatted it away. The 8-point buck was knocked off balance. They had been whistling, but when two deer came by and one bumped the creature, it shrieked loudly. The gray creature left 17 inch tracks. Matt lives on 19 acres of wilderness towards Canada, and the area has peaches, plums, pears and paw-paws. A neighbor lady complained that a “Big Man” was in her garbage can. He measured tracks 15” by 7” near the garage. There was a young female, sort of pretty in the face, Matt said. Not that he’d want to date her...she was 6’5”, 400 pounds, and only ten yards away. She screeched three times, and he could see the mouth open. The creatures are associated with a god-awful smell of poop-sweat. He just bought a 35 mm camera and wants to take some photos.

OH PIKE 1999 TR93 BFRO* K.B. On Dec 22, 1999, in Pike Co., Ohio, near Latham near Green Ridge Road, was setting up an overturned trash burn barrel near the woods, about 7:30 PM. Thinking that the wind blew it over, but it had a foot of material in it, and was heavy, then there was a noise in the brush and K.B. saw a large, tall, hairy creature staring as he went around the garage. K.B. let out a holler and the creature turned and strode slowly away, swinging real long arms like a person. It took three long steps towards the woods when K.B. and girlfriend ran for car. It appeared 7 ft tall, seemed like a shadow, and didn’t appear afraid of them. They were about two car-lengths from the creature.

OH PORTAGE 1993 TR#71 * Book review. “Bigfoot In Ohio- Encounters with the Grassman.” Christopher L. Murphy, Joedy Cook, and George Clappison, of the Ohio Bigfoot Research & Study Group. Here’s a fascinating little gem with some real surprises for the researcher. The first portion is rather standard; lay of the land, Bigfoot In The News, 27 pages of photos and drawings, and such lore. What first caught my real attention was a chapter, “Ohio Deer Kills and Bigfoot.” Here I ran into some real meat (pun unintended). Matt Moneymaker was the source of this information. Matt’s 1992 investigation started with a hunter , stalking deer in Stark County, that had a creature approach him within 35 feet, scaring a small herd of deer away. Just after sundown, the creature saw the hunter, screamed several times, and retreated. A few days later, deer appeared again, and the hunter noted knocks of wood on a tree trunk that were answered from nearby. It is speculated that this is part of a “scare and catch” tactic by the Bigfeet, to drive deer into an ambush. Later, with his dog, tracks of Bigfoot were seen and a young deer carcass was found with a broken leg, no bullet wounds, and intact except for the belly ripped open. *** Later that year, to confirm the deer killings by Bigfoot, a Wisconsin couple near Berlin Lake in Ohio almost ran over a Bigfoot crossing the road with a young deer slung over its shoulder. The lesson here is for researchers to ask locals about dead deer being found. We have had many reported out west, and even found bodies hanging in trees. Matt commented on one case near Coppei, WA, where a lady said the creature chased elk over the brink of Coppei Falls, and retrieved the dead animals. The book goes on to tell of the origins of the Grassman story, and tells of the, now famous, grass huts investigated by Joedy and George near Akron, OH. I looked long at the photo, ran previously in the Track Record in 1995, courtesy of Joedy. George even sent in an article on the Grassman which I printed. Murphy claims to see three creatures in the hut photo, that he has enlarged and enhanced. Personally, I believe them to be shadows, but Chris leaves it up to the reader to decide, as he does throughout the book. Curiously, in a chapter on conspiracy, an army Colonel says the Army investigated similar structures and found a placenta, and labeled the huts as a birthing complex. Later Matt investigated a sighting in Guernsey County. The farmer told of young dead deer where the legs had been broken and twisted around, the bodies left to rot. Matt returned in a few days with his wife, a medical doctor, to examine the carcasses, and she found that the belly had been ripped open and the liver was missing. Matt noted that all the dead deer had legs broken and speculated that a heavy tree branch might have been used while rushing the deer. As to why the livers were gone. It was noted that it has substantial amounts of vitamins that could be depleted in the fall and winter. Vitamin A, is critical for night vision and skin thickening, or callous formation through keratinization. Also, 90% of cholesterol production, building block of hormones, is found in this organ. There were other benefits of liver eating - like medical, mentioned...read the book and see. Another deer kill took Matt to Coshocton County in 1993 where he talked to a resident that had a sighting that had so moved the witness, that he erected a Bigfoot cut-out and put a sign on his barn reading “Sasquatch Valley.” Don Keating took me to this place last year when I visited Ohio. I took a photo, but the one by Peggy Tillman is much better, so I’ll reproduce it here. The witness had found deer tracks and eventually came to a natural overhang or cave where he found a number of severed deer legs neatly arranged side-by-side. Later, he was terrified when a Bigfoot entered the cave, but it did nothing. The machinist stared and backed away on the opposite side of the overhang (you really must read the whole account to appreciate). No other deer parts were found and it’s conceivable that the legs were for future consumption. TR 77 MAY 98 * Chuck Storrie, guest at the May meeting from Ohio, passed on a few older Ohio reports a couple in 1967 also outside of New Philadelphia, OH, were driving down a dirt road looking for a place to park and neck, and the man saw an ape looking at him., standing in the middle of the road. He thought it was an escaped gorilla, immediately shoved the car in reverse and backed out of the road, “burning tires.” The girl asked why he did that, apparently not seeing the gorilla...and didn’t believe his story. So, he drove back in and it was still standing there. She screamed and it went behind a huge oak tree about 3 1/2 feet wide, but it’s shoulders hung out 6-8 inches on both sides, and the arms went almost to the ground. They estimated the gray creature as about 8 1/2 feet tall.

OH TUSCARAWAS 1970 TR#77 40 29N 81 26W ELV 910 A couple were parked and necking on a county lane during a full moon, in 1970, near New Philadelphia, OH. A dark colored Bigfoot approached the driver’s side of the car, bent forward over the front windshield, and looked in with its head upside down. The lady screamed, and it just stood there. They rapidly drove away in a panic. Later at a house she saw a book of Bigfoot and started stuttering, “that’s it!”

TR 73 JAN 98. Richard Myers of Newcomerstown, OH, was next. His most interesting encounter was during the summer at the infamous location of Lick Run, OH, just north of Newcomerstown, OH. Meyers on a hot August night in 1990 spotted what he believes was a nine foot tall Bigfoot creature. “It was just standing at the side of the old building in the Iron Weed. It’s head was at the base of the down-spouting on the building. I was driving at night and saw it from a distance...it was a bush but as I approached I could see it was something that doesn’t grow there! I told Don and we went back to the area and the weeds were all smashed down where it had been.”

In 1993, three men were coon hunting near Stone Creek in Ohio, and at a saddle in the hills only 15 yards wide, a thing let out a scream, loud in volume, and repeated it several times. They turned big flashlights on the source, apparently about 100 yards distant, but saw nothing.

* In TR#50; I ran a report and several pictures from eastern Ohio; Bob D. investigator. The pictures were of a smashed trap; a track; and a rock on a roof and broken well. It would apper that the report is a hoax; deliberately done by the family that lived in the house with the rock on the roof. Another investigator caught the family child with rocks in his pocket. Still not proof...but I have my skepticals on extremely tight; and am squinting!,

TR 75 MAR 98 The next speaker, Daniel Perez, 10926 Milano Ave., Norwalk, CA 90650-1638. Daniel’s talk consisted of an interesting duel subject theme. The first, “does Bigfoot occur in Ohio?” Was addressed with the retelling of the Patrick Poling Bigfoot sighting of June 1980. The four toed track on display, and originally reported by investigator Blake Matthews, were, accompanied by an interesting report. Patrick was on a tractor when at 9:30 in the evening, he saw a Bigfoot 150 feet away. It was stripping vines from blackberries and blueberries and eating them. It had drooping shoulders, was 7 or 8 foot tall, about 400 pounds, black, heavily haired, but not on the face. It had a persons face. In the area of the 7-8 minute sighting, trees were bent over near where the 17 inch tracks were found, 36 inches between tracks (toe to heel), were found the next day.

TR 61 SEPT 96 That member was author Peggy Tillman At the Wayne Nat. Forest in 1980 a boy shot and wounded a creature, and blood was found at the site. "It was after this shooting that all hell broke loose. Large boulders were thrown at the trailers where people lived. This scared some of the residents so bad that they moved out of their home.
