WV LOGAN 1930’S TR#84 As an aside, Rod mentioned that back during prohibition days, some fellows at nearby Little Hearts Creek, W. Va., that’s about 30 miles north of Chapmanville, got chased away from their still by a Bigfoot creature. They jumped a barbed-wire fence and ran off, but the thing chasing them tried to run through the fence. It got tangled in the wire and screamed horribly as the wire kept tangling around it and the barbs cutting deeper.

TR 84 FEB 1999 * Rod A. called What the call was really about though... “do you have many reports of Bigfoot touching people?” This was 30 years ago, and Rod and his wife were visiting cousin Buck, 30 miles south of Chapmanville, West Virginia. At 7 AM in the summer they were in bed, an open window at the bottom of the bed. He was 21 and she 18 at the time. All of a sudden something jerked the bed violently, then it was pulled towards the window. A great hairy arm grabbed his wife’s leg and tried to pull her out the window. They screamed and beat on the creatures arm until it finally let go and went away. Later, cousin buck noted that boards had been torn away from a nearby steeple, and they thought maybe the creature had been staying in there. WV MARION 1999 TR#88 * Marion County (near border of Monongalia Co.), West Virginia, April 20, 21, and 23, 1999, along the Monongalia River near Rivesville and Jordan, near road Rt. 19. Witnesses older brother and son were going to get a photo of Bigfoot. They took 4-wheel vehicle into the “hollow,” and after waiting some time noted a horrible stench. The brother saw in the woods a creature squatting behind a tree. Moving to get a better look, the creature stood up and left. Poor foot imprints were seen in some leaves that were about five feet apart. Later, witness’s older brother, with his wife and six year old son were four wheeling in old 93 hollow between 7-8 PM and they saw what they thought at first was a black bear walking on its hind legs. Stopping to watch, the creature also stopped and was watching them for two minutes. It was around 800 yards away. She said at that distance she could see through its legs when it turned to watch us, arms hung down by its side just above the knees the shoulder and chest being very broad. There was fur from head to toe. The creature left, striding across a field, arms swinging by its side and slightly bent as it walked through the woods. It appeared to be about 8-9 feet tall. Shortly after my other younger brother and uncle saw the creature at the same location from about 400 yards away. It crossed the road and went downhill into a valley where they lost sight of of the creature. It came up the other side and walked along the edge of the field and entered the woods. My brother watched it through binoculars and said it was muscular with fur from head to toe, but all he could see was the back side. He yelled but it didn’t attract the creature’s attention. Two days later, in the morning, the older brother and his wife went to the same area to go mushroom hunting, and while in the power line area heard a loud knocking on one side in the woods, like somebody hitting something on a tree. From the other side, near a dilapidated old brick house, they heard something screaming. Brother said it was a high pitched hunting dog scream, and it went on continuously. As he walked closer to the house it spooked him and he returned to his four-wheeler. Driving toward the house, his wife still on the hill, the knocking and the screaming got louder and more intense. Something in the woods started crashing through the woods in her direction and stopped when it heard the 4-wheeler coming back. Brother got his wife and left the area. They and other people returned to the area later but there was no further sightings or incidents. The area was heavily wooded with dense underbrush near an old strip mine. A river is nearby. Witness recalls that years ago he recalled a family lived close to the hollow that had a son that said he saw Bigfoot there. Another person from Rivesville said he also saw a Bigfoot there. Neither was believed.

WV PENDLETON 1998 TR#74 * Ron Schaffner posted an Internet report from Scott Fadely that occurred in late Jan., 1998. He was traveling in early morning snowy conditions in Pendleton County, West Virginia near Rt. 55, by the Senaca Resort area, and when he was close to Seneca Rocks, a Bigfoot stepped on the road, causing the witness to swerve to avoid hitting it. The large upright dark-colored creature was fuzzy looking, with primate features, similar to an ape.

WV WAYNE 1979 TR#85 38.07N 082 35W ELV 580 FT Also, witness recalls when 14 in 1979 until 1983, he, neighbors and family used to hear long moaning-howling noises coming from the woods on the hill in the early fall during high-school football games. After the games, father, brother and witness would sit on the porch after games and try and figure out what was making the howling noises. They never did, but hearing a Bigfoot special on A&E, witness heard the same long moanful sounds on one of the Moneymaker Internet sites. One fellow that heard the sounds on the hill was spooked, and ordered his family in the house while he guarded the porch with a rifle for three days.

WV WAYNE 1982 TR#85 38.07N 082 35W ELV 580 FT * Fort Gay, West Virginia, Sept. 1982. Quarter mile north of town on Hewlett Branch Road, about four miles west of Rt. 152. At a clearing above an old cemetery. Witness and four others had joy rode to the area about 9 PM, and heard local dogs start barking, and just as suddenly they stopped. Then they heard something moving in the brush and witness saw a shadow (thot a barn owner). The 7 foot thing then stood up on the edge of the area and huffed and grunted. It was covered in dark brown fur and looked like a pro basketball player. The girl was screaming and friends were piling in the car. When the headlights hit the thing if covered its face to shield its eyes and quickly sped behind some trees and thick brush. Witness never did see its face. The area at one time was considered by native Indians.
