Bigfoot Mis-Identification

Something happened during the expedition this weekend that is really interesting to me. Goose and Blue Eyes went on a ride on the 4 wheeler. They were gone for quite a while and things started getting dark. Some at the camp were getting concerned, so a friend of Goose's decided to go see if he could find them. He went over to the crossing area and saw Goose. He shouted for him and Goose looked at him, spun around and took off into the woods. This young fella came back to camp pretty ticked off that Goose would run away when he called him.

Upon being questioned, he said Goose was about 150-200 feet away. He saw Goose's white t-shirt and he just ran into the woods away from him. He was so sure it was Goose. This is where the interesting part come into play. Goose was wearing a dark grey t-shirt. He didn't have the 4 wheeler? And Blue Eyes wasn't with him? A short time later Goose and Blue Eyes returned and to Goose's embarrassment he admitted he had gotten lost and apologized for making people worry. It was a relief to everyone as it was pretty dark by now. This friend of Goose's knew what we were doing out there and what we were researching. He had no experience in research just came out with his buddy. When he saw the way Goose was dressed and was convinced that it wasn't him that he saw, this young man's face completely changed. His eyes were wide and you could see his mind racing a mile a minute.

I was amazed at how he was so sure of what he had seen until he was convinced that it couldn't of been. He saw something that looked like a human and there for it was a human. It makes you wonder how many other people saw what they thought was a person and never gave it a second thought. The skeptics love to say that bigfoot sightings are just mis-identifications of other animals. Or when a hunter says that have been in the woods 40 years and ain't ever seen one. Maybe they did and didn't identify what they were seeing. It's just another way to show when our minds are focused on something that it is so easy to mis-identify something or even miss it completely. It doesn't take much to realize how easy it is for them to hide in plain sight.

I have a classic example of this. A few years ago I was out in Newton county with a buddy who I met on the Internet and we share the same passion for searching for these creatures. He had money to possibly buy land for his quest. This land is completely isolated. Approx 17000 acres on the Sabine and serves as deer lease owned by the paper companies. It was mid March and still chilly out. This was the 2nd time we had been out there. The land that he was looking at was some pine but most of it in the bottoms itself consisting of cedar and cypress and then the West portion high pine. That day we walked pretty much the whole 90 acres. At dark after doing some knocks and bad screams we decided to head back to Jasper County where my land is. Pulling out of the area and about 200 foot to the right of an abandoned camp At a T in the road we both saw a person hauling ass through high grass and shrubs trying to get behind an abandoned shack and deep woodline. He looked at me as his Hi beams hit and said f+×÷ this place I don't want to buy land that has some kind of Crack heads or meth freaks running around on it. I agreed as this person was literally running as though he had previously been trained for track. He had classic straight ahead posture no head movement and the perfect arm pump. It was like he was not really touching the ground. He appeared to glide but the sheer grace and speed was in retrospect truly amazing. The drive out lasted 40 mins and we encountered nobody out to the FM. Road. At the point we hit the streets...He stopped we both looked at each other and said that person had no vehicle, No flashlight , no four wheeler. We both kind laughed and said some researchers we are. We still talk about this today. That night was wet and cold and their weren't any people back there.

FYI my buddy ended up not purchasing the land on the Sabine but instead grabbed some acreage out in SE OK. Laflore county...I will say that these creatures seem to be in Oklahoma as well.

Also, I think this is the best website going for the subject. It doesn't get mentioned enough but the guys Darkwing, Randy, DW, Big Jim, Super and all the ones who I didn't mention seem to break the mold for the BF community. All the hate and ugliness in this community are not here. It isn't tolerated and it really should be appreciated. Make sure that we keep it going as I think the momentum for the site has been in a little lull. Once again I may be completely wrong... So, I challenge the folks on here (me included) to continue to post, read and share what is happening out in the different areas of the country that Mid-american covers. Great Job creating an area that is insulated from all the BS that comes with this subject.

That is the point. Even us researchers make snap judgements at times. Over the years I've heard a lot of deer hunters stories of this "idiot in a guillie suit walking around during rifle season" or "He's lucky he hasn't been shot dressed in all brown or black" type of thing. It makes me really wonder if it was truly what they thought it was. We as people are seldom good at being able to judge height at a distance. So maybe what they saw was a 6 foot hunter not following the orange laws, when in all actuality it was an 8 hairy critter walking on tow legs. Knowing I am not the best at deciphering heights at a distance I still practice trying to gauge heights followed up with a true measurements. I think that is why re-enactments with witnesses can be real helpful.

Hey Yankeesearch, didn’t even know you were in chat, now you have the bug so bad you will have to keep going out to see another one. :)

Anyway, as I stand before God, I did not make this up!

Not saying it was Sq/BF/DM/Yeti... but it was strange. And I am locking my doors tonight for sure!

And just I was turning away, I thought I heard snort -- which could have been deer or maybe cattle... but... I do not know.

I did not have the creepy feeling I normally get in these situations... so I really do not know what to make of it.
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:53 am »
One detail I forgot to mention: the whoop had almost a human like talk after it on both occasions.
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:52 am »
I walked back to the other side, and thought I heard a knock...
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:51 am »
Cattle about 1/8th mile away disappeared... and strangely at that location: it sounded like something banged the metal fence. Not loud... but never ever heard it before tonight.
@ yankeesearch « Tue 12:50 am »
Two whoops... and some deer scattering (they may have been scattering because of me).
