Sighting Text:
CA HUMBOLDT MISG TR#77 Art Bell didn’t give much time for callers, but one person, Guy, had an experience while camping in the mountains near Eureka, CA, with five other people. He and his girlfriend heard noises on retiring...rocks pounded on trees, a large branch broken from a tree, and footsteps approaching the camp. The “soft” heavy footfalls came right up to the tent, and they could see the outline against the tent wall from the fire in the background where the creature was sneaking to look at the four companions around the fire. They saw and heard nothing. There appeared to be three of the creatures, and they communicated with a coughing noise. The next day there was hair on the trees, but he didn’t collect any.

Summary: VOCALIZATION FROM NEAR LIGHTNING STRIKE, LARGE SHADOW MOVING THROUGH FOREST

Sighting Text:
CA INYO 1970 TR#87 37 21N 118 23W 4147 FT * Near Bishop CA, off Hy. 395, Summer of 1970. Witness was 12 years old and on Deadman’s Creek with a friend and was on an outing with a conservation club. BJ, walking with his friend up the creek for five miles to go fishing, in the mid-afternoon, they had the feeling of being watched. By late afternoon there were none of the usual forest sounds such as birds and such, so they started their return to the camp, when a storm caught them, a bolt of lightning striking near the creek a ways away. Then they heard growling or grunting from the area of the strike, and branches in the brush were heard breaking from apparently high in the trees, the sounds moving away from them. The pine tree dead branches started about six feet up. There was no bad odor, and shortly whatever it was had moved out of hearing distance. Nothing conclusive was actually seen, but a large shadow was noted moving through the forest, but only briefly. Due to a lightning fire the camp was evacuated by the Forest Service, so the area was not searched for tracks.

IBS Report #: 1460

Location: KERN county, CA. United States

Sighting Type: 1

Latitude: +035˚ 38' N
Longitude: 118˚ 00' W
Day:
Month:
Year: 1971 OR 72
Time: 2400-0100
Elevation: 2300

Data Source: TR21
Credibility: 1
Locality: SE OF WELDON BETWEEN LAKE ISABELLA AND CHINA LAKE
Researcher: RICH GRUMLEY, FLOYD SMITH
Witness: RICH GRUMLEY

Sighting Type: 1
Summary: ROASTING HOT DOGS BRINGS 17 FT TALL BF, DOG SCARED

Sighting Text:
CA TR21 In the 1960's and 70's and into the 80's we of the C.B.F.O. investigated quite a few cases where the persons out camping were roasting "hot dogs" over an open fire, and they had one, and up to three encounters with BF. In fact, we (Rich Grumley, Floyd Smith-first VP of the CBFO, and another researcher) were roasting hot dogs (Farmer John Hickory smoked Links) over a camp fire when I had my first encounter with BF under a grove of cottonwood trees SE of the little town of Weldon, (halfway between Lake Isabella and China Lake, Ca., app. 1971 or 1972). Well the "creature" was approximately seventeen feet in height (stood directly underneath a branch that was measured...the thing was slightly taller), had a head that was set on massive shoulders, no neck noted, the chest area was about 8 or 10 feet wide, and the "legs were bigger around than my pudgy little body." The creature left no tracks because he was standing in heavy mulch under this grove of trees when I saw him around midnight or l AM. I didn't even get a good look with lights, and our cameras were all locked up in the trunk of Floyd's car and he and the other researcher had taken a walk down a dirt road in the middle of the night with the lights to look for Bigfoot tracks! The only intelligent one in our group was Floyd's 75# German Shepard and she was scared sh*tting, having earlier in the evening jumped into the back seat of the car and defied all attempts to drag her out. Rich believes he witnessed the genuine article...Bigfoot. Rich Grumley, 9/20/92.

Sighting Text:
* (PB LETTER) Mark Burkey, Notes from letter of Oct 13, 1976: We have a lot of trees, mountains, and brushy areas (around Bodfish, CA). It all happened one night when a guy came home around 11:00 pm. He drove up to his house and looked around, as he thought he hit a skunk, and walked over to the garbage can and there it was. He says it was about 8 ft. tall and around 500#. It walked up right over to a girls house where she screamed and the guy ran over there with a . 22 rifle and shot about 10 shots into his chest. He said it didn't even hurt him. He said it wasn't a bear or anything like that, because the forest (service) moved almost all the bears into the mountains.

I did not have the creepy feeling I normally get in these situations... so I really do not know what to make of it.

One detail I forgot to mention: the whoop had almost a human like talk after it on both occasions.
