Sighting Type: 1
Summary: FILMED FAMILY OF BF FORAGING FOOD
Sighting Text:
* Jackson Moore, 4/29/93; concerns article of Bigfoot sighting near Happy camp in TR#25. More detail was desired on the filming of the creatures; The animals I saw were very much humanoid in appearance, only larger. The family that I filmed for approximately eight minutes carried on as a family unit. They were foraging for food. The largest of them was a male, about 11 1/2 to 12 feet tall. We were able to measure a spruce tree that he was standing next to, that was 9 foot 8 inches tall, and came across the middle of his chest. The second animal was very much a female, as we could see very large breasts. The other two animals were only about half that size, but very heavy in build also. The family that I saw had what looked like very long hair over most of their bodies. The color is almost black, with a reddish cast. The males head sort of went into the shoulders, with very little or no neck visible. His arms were much longer .than ours would be in a like stance, coming to mid thigh. The female's wasn't so pronounced. Also the same for the younger ones. One of the first things one notices is the smell, a very strong repugnant odor that is very vile at best. All animals have an odor of one sort or the o~her, especially when in rut, or, like some animals have --to drive away their hunters... like a skunk. (ed:It has been suggested that Bigfoot odor might be a specially designed mechanism to drive away antagonists, Ray) I was not close enough to tell the color of their eyes, other than they were dark. When they became aware of us, they moved very swiftly away, as though they were no more than wisps of smoke. We went down to the area after they had faded away and made several casts of the different tracks that were allover the area. We also recovered a small clump of hair that was caught in the bark of a large tree that the male had used as a scratching post. All of this material was lost when we encountered two animals later on, and my partner was killed by one of them.

IBS Report #: 1795
Location: SISKIYOU county, CA. United States
Sighting Type: 1
Latitude: +041˚ 44' N
Longitude: 122˚ 48' W
Day: 18TH TO 21ST
Month: LATE DEC
Year: 1961
Time: NOON
Elevation: M
Data Source: TR29
Credibility: 3
Locality: WEST OF YREKA, NEAR BALD MT., McKINNNEY CK
Researcher: MIKE CLARK
Witness: MIKE CLARK
Sighting Type: 1
Summary: BROWN BF,18 IN SNOWBALL THROWN, 19 IN TRACKS, WHISTLE
Sighting Text:
* BOY scout leader Mike Clark was a boy of 8 or 9, living in northern California just before Christmas of 1961 (between December 18th and the 21st). West of Yreka, CA, the family with 5 brothers (1st grade thru' last year of high school) lived near Bald Mountain (5493 ft.) off the Klamath River. A possible investment in the KC Columbia Mine on McKinney Ck. (T46N R9W, sec. 31), required samples of the gold ore to be taken for the geologist, and dad was ill with a bad cold, remained at home while the 5 brothers went to the mine to get the required ore samples (Hi-ho, hi-ho...). Just below the tailing dump at #3 tunnel, about noon, they made a fire to heat bullion cubes, it was cold and the sky was overcast, snow in places was waist deep. All of a sudden a huge snowball (12- 18 inches) landed in the middle of the fire putting it out. The boys were mystified, each thinking the other had pulled some kind of prank as there were no trees for the massive snow blob to have fallen from. Again a fire was made, and this time they saw the even larger snowball (18-24 inches) coming from uphill near the #3 tunnel, about 20-25 feet away, and 30 feet higher in elevation. They all rushed uphill, thinking they would catch a glimpse of their dad playing a prank on them. What they saw confused them even more... there was a brown colored man running through the trees. Mike recalls seeing his back above the knees and one arm swing backwards as it ran. His oldest brother, about six feet tall, followed a ways, easily passing under branches that the "man" had to stoop a bit to pass under. He came back with "quite a handful of hair." Most amazing were the "snowshoe-like" tracks the thing left in the snow...19 inches long, "I kneeled beside them," and they looked like bare human feet, Mike said. It was plain where the snow had been rolled into balls, same as a child constructing a snowman, another snowball lie waiting to be thrown, the 19 inch tracks all around it. Still mystified, the boys heard a blood curdling whistle/scream that raised the hair on the back of Mike's neck...all the boys "skee-daddled"down the mountain. At home dad laughed at them for being so scared of a bear. Snowballs? Sound familiar? In TR#25 ran the tale of Jean Z., 1991, and a large snowball hitting the window of the truck she was in. At the time I commented lightly, "she wondered if an Abominable Snow Man was doing a snow job on her." Now I wonder? Seems almost natural that a creature with "hands" would roll a snowball.
