KY ESTILL 1993 * July, 1993, Estill County, KY, witness was hiking on Bear Mtn in Ern KY. Witness had been hearing odd tapping noise from a briar thicket. Then saw dark brownish figure near a log and 250 yards away. Observed thru binoculars, creature was sitting on a log with back to witness and a rock in its hand and beating on the side of the log. There was no neck, hands looked human...that is, four fingers and a thumb, skin dark greyish, hand beating on this logs side. It had a back that was at least 2.5 feet across and covered in short, thick reddish brown hair. Head was conical, like a lowland gorilla, and when it stood up and looked at witness suddenly, noticed it had a bulged forehead near the eyebrows, large dark round eyes and a flared gorilla like nose. “The jaw was slightly long to the chest, but did not protrude at the mouth. The nose and eye areas were free of hair, the skin a dark gray. But from the nose, the mouth, and chin were covered in hair. (Sort of like a hairy Ninja hood). The creature was HUGE! I later looked at a tree it was standing near and it had to be near 7ft tall. It stared up the mountain at me, and made a peculiar motion with its head, waving it from side to side, and seemed to hunch over a bit with its arms dangling at it's knees. It then turned and dashed off thru the thicket.”

KY FLEMING TR94 2000 * Ron Schaffner report from Fairview, Fleming Co., KY. A strange noise was heard from the back porch, and thinking that it was a prowler witness took a pistol to investigate. He saw a large dark creature run to the woods and fired shots at it. Running to his trailer for more ammunition, witness saw creature again at an old stable. He fired and missed again. This is when he noted that a porch freezer had been broken into, frozen chicken had been taken and more was scattered outside. There were white hairs on the freezer handle and impressions in the ground. A search undertaken by Sheriff G.W. White and locals located the scattered chicken and more tracks. Witness Tumey told the Times Democrat of Flemingsburg that it was too dark to see much except that it stood up like a man and there was a huge shadow and thumping noises as it ran away. The tracks in a gully where something had slid down an embankment were 12-14 inches long, 6 inches wide.

KY GRAVES 1993 TR94 364430N 0883812W BFRO* P.B. was in mid-late Jan, 1993, along Hy 121 heading towards Mayfield, KY, on a very clear, cold night. Coming out of Wickliffe, KY, into the Bottoms Area, in Ballard, Co., KY, about 20 miles to Mayfield, or Wickliffe. There are deep forests and fields on both sides of the road. Witness and sister about 2:30 AM, saw a large object on the side of the road. When the headlights lit the object they recognized an 8 foot tall creature on the passenger side as they passed some 2-3 feet away. The large man-like creature had long shiny dark hair covering the whole body. There was a very distinctive muscle tone in the arms and legs, and it appeared very strong. The face had human features, especially the eyes...they were not like any animal eyes witness had ever seen before. The upper torso was well above the top of the Ford Escort. It was standing half in a ditch, half on the road, as if trying to cross. It lookED at witness and sister, the eyes following them as they passed. They still talk about the frightening experience to this day, but not usually to other than close family and friends.

KY JEFFERSON 1971 TR#74 * Internet, BFRO report. Patrick in the summer of 1971, was at Pleasure Ridge Park, KY, Jefferson County south of Louisville and close of Shively. The suburbaran (houses on 1 acre lots) was spooked by howling several nights that summer. No tracks, just a low, moaning howl. The sounds were far off and difficult to hear, though every dog in the area was barking The noise would last five or six minutes and fade rather than cutting off. Witness was ten years old. The sound was apparently coming from a large mounded ridge that ran the length of the area to keep the Ohio River from flooding. A wooded ditch area was on the opposite side.

KY, * Bill Green (Dir. New England Bigfoot Center; 21 Benham St.; Apt. F; Bristol; CT 06010) sent a letter from Shirley Elkins of Paintsville; eastern Kentucky (on Lewis Fork of Big Sandy River; jct. Hy. 23 & 460); that was interesting: I was on night shift at the hospital in my home town; April of 1944; and that rainy night a man was in the waiting room to see the doctor. He was all a mess of scratches; and his mother was telling him to just say he fell down; and not anything about being in a fight with a tall man-like hairy thing. They kept him overnight at the hospital; and later that night someone phones us about an accident caused by a tall hairy creature that was in the road. A year passed; and I went to work at a restaurant and there was this man I'd seen at the hospital; he was the owners son (his mother); and became my husband June 7; 1945. He told me what happened that rainy night in April; near dusk; and it had been dark and rainy all day. Ellis had gone fishing; and had caught a pile of catfish for the restaurant. He was out back cleaning them on a table lit by a 25 watt bulb; when up from the river bank came what looked like a man; only he was with dark hair; long and shaggy all over. It growled at him; pushed him; and made a grab for the fish. He thought it was a young teen dressed in a costume; and was going to pull the suit off. Then he said I grabbed a bottle and hit him; and he landed in the rain barrel; that was kept outside for quick clean up. The creature jumped out; growled again; and shook him; then hurled him to the ground; and ran off with the fish. And mom didn't believe it; she thought the staff at the hospital would send for a shrink if I told this to them. It had small; aqua color eyes-like a cat; heavy scattered eye brows; looked like a young teen; only was very bushy in hair of a shiny slate color; and he wasn't over 6 feet tall; slim; long body; legs short; had large long feet; long claw-like nails; like overgrown human ones. It's tail bushed when it saw the fish! Looked like it smiled; but still growled; had sharp long pointed teeth. It left five toed tracks in the mud; that had the impression of claws. He drank beer every day; so the few that knew of the event; thought he was nuts or drunk; so his mother never wanted him to tell this to anyone.,

KY, * Shirley Elkins report Shortly before Christmas of 1978; we had a major flood here; and every one was told to leave town; because they said the dam might burst. I ran up to some family's house that had married a kin person. They kept the radio on all night and gave me the bed next to a wide window. I could see a graveyard nearby; and some dogs began to go nuts. Barking; then with a yelp; they all ran off. I looked out the window; and all I could see was fur against the window; and it felt like hands against the house; shaking the house. Then I saw quite a scary sight. A human looking creature; as it walked away from the window making grunting sounds. It walked upon the graveyard; and shook a tree; tore up bushes; and disappeared on down the hill. When I told the family; they said; they hadn't seen anything; but some nights they heard scratching on the side of the house; and their cats and dogs acted scared; and they had found the garden tore up one summer; and trees shredded. They are dead now; and I don't know who lives there; and if the same thing is still happening., inches

KY PERRY 1986 TR#85 * In July, 1986, about 2 PM. Coal Harbor Hill on two lane country road, Perry County, southeast KY, witness and friend were walking up, and near the crest of, the hill and both heard a scream that was not human, or like any animal ever heard, and seemed to originate in the wooded valley below them in this mountainous country. Simultaneously high-pitched and growling, it occurred again after 20-30 seconds with a longer 6-7 second duration, and was closer than before. They both ran back to my friend’s house as fast as they could. The friend says he has heard it on two other occasions since, but witness had never heard anything similar until downloading some sounds from Ohio that were exactly the same as what was heard that night.
