TR 55 MAR 96 Rip said he was traveling that same road in 1971-, northbound, still in MD, when he thought he saw a two or three foot dead thing...a dead hairy baby child, lying along the wooded median strip of the road. Not interested at the time in Bigfoot, being only 19 years old, he kept on going, rationalizing to himself that it had to be a bear. There are still reports coming in to this day from that area, Rip said.

TR 55 MAR 96 * Rip Lyttle (301-270-3152) called 3/27, and said he had talked to a Bigfoot researcher, Bob Chance, that reported in 1984 he and his wife were traveling south on Route 95, just into Hartford County, in northern MD, a heavily wooded area, and saw emergency vehicles. His wife saw a very large, hair covered, human being laying in the road. They didn't stop.

MD HOWARD 1977 TR#85 36 16N 76 48W 233 FT * In the summer of 1977, witness lived on Windflower Court, Ellicott City, MD, on an acre of land, with farms and forest nearby. One day, a cable spool picnic table was missing. They could see a path where it had been partly rolled and sometimes carried toward the deeply forested area. Large, human-like footprints were seen along the path. Eventually the spool was found a mile away where it had been tossed into a steep gully... something they didn’t think a bunch of kids had done The footprints were much larger than my size 10 shoe.

(Thanks Randy) Tales of creatures are tall on interest, short on details Animal sighting lures media to Arundel Mills, By Laura Barnhardt, Sun Staff The sighting of a 12-foot-tall, black, mystery creature seen lurking in the dark of night near the Arundel Mills construction site sparked a media frenzy yesterday in the light of day. The report of the "strange sighting" was checked by police early Monday morning and quickly became a joke about the sighting of an imaginary Loch Ness Monster from the Severn River. State wildlife officials were called in to search the area yesterday, where the large, unidentified beast that walked upright had scared several construction workers. The workers said they were awakened just past midnight Monday while napping in a van at the mall site in Hanover. Yesterday, reporters from television shows questioned police and Department of Natural Resources officials as they gathered in the area. County workers laughed about the tourism possibilities for the county's Sasquatch. But County Executive Janet S. Owens' spokesman remained serious, expressing Owens' concern that Arundel Mills mall open Nov. 16. The frightened workers said the "thing" ran past them so fast they weren't sure what it was. After fleeing to a nearby fast-food restaurant, they called police, who dispatched an off-duty officer working security at the site. He had trouble persuading the men to return to where they say they first spotted the animal. Later, when the officer and the workers caught another glimpse of the creature, the workers ran away again. Hours later, the officer spotted a large animal in the dark with his floodlight , but it was unclear whether it was the same beast spotted earlier by the workers. DNR sent a regional wildlife biologist to the construction site, but the search for the animal or its prints came up empty, said Susan O'Brien, a department spokeswoman. "It was most likely the bear spotted on [Route] 295 not two or three miles from that site," O'Brien said. The female bear, which had been with a small cub killed by a car on the road, would have weighed at most about 300 pounds and would be about 5 feet tall if it stood upright, she said. She said the animal might have looked much larger - distorted by the witnesses' fear and horror and by poor lighting. That is, if the bear was the same animal that terrified the construction workers. The officer reported finding a 15- to 20-inch-long print and seeing a large animal near a pond on the construction site about 3 a.m. Although the print would have been too large to be from a bear - even a large one - O'Brien said it was possible that the animal had slid in the dirt, creating an elongated print. Bears have been sighted by residents in the Baltimore area recently, she said. If confronted by a bear, residents should make their presence known by standing straight, talking and then backing away slowly in a nonconfrontational manner, said O'Brien. * In the winter of 1977-78, Wayne Fenner investigated Maryland tracks that appeared to show hunting cooperation between two Bigfoot creatures. In the one foot deep snow heavily criss-crossed with game trails, two 3-toed creatures, moved 200 feet apart, one at the bottom of a hill leaving 19 inch tracks, the other at the top of the ridge, walking parallel, left 12 inch tracks. Speculation was that if one of the creatures jumped game, it would run towards the other. In another instance, tracks indicated that a creature stood behind a tree, apparently waiting for traffic to pass, then ran across a road. A cave where feces was found was reported to have two creatures standing in front, swaying back and forth. The foundation of an old house was found to have bones of game stacked on make-shift shelves.

MD MONTGOMERY 1996 TR#72 * Rip Lyttle, 11/2/97 email. I just got back from visiting night watchmen John Cormer and John Garafolo of Laurel Sand and Gravel. That’s twenty minutes from Silver Spring, MD, the huge quarry straddles both sides of Interstate 95. Both night watchmen claim to have seen something around seven feet tall late at night last winter. One heard what sounded to him like a woman screaming.

* Wayne Fenner, founder of QuestOr discussion group (UFO'S and Bigfoot), (503) 582-1234, has a report from 1978 that he investigated (has been in media before). At the Maryland Peach Bottom Nuclear Power plant, an 8 to 10 foot Bigfoot jumped in front of a cab-over semi-truck in the winter, landing in front of, and at eye-to- eye-level with the driver. The semi slid on the ice to avoid the creature, and the driver noticed a really foul smell filled the truck as he went past. Notifying the gate guards, the armed party chased the monster from where it jumped from the right of the truck, into a ravine on the left, and crossed a fence. At the top of a hill across the ravine the creature started making nerve-wracking howls, and the team pulled back and gave up the chase. They saw broken branches in the trees where the creature had swept them away while moving in 5 1/2 foot strides on 3 toes in snow. It had been a really bad winter and snow was heavy, causing speculation that's why the creature ventured into the settled areas. As snow froze on the creatures 9 inch long hair, icicles formed, causing a strange collar around the footprints.
