MI TR 22 Kenneth A. Sayers report This report was further backed up by a newspaper article I found, in the Port Huron paper, dated April 24th, 1969. It tells of the sighting of a six foot tall, gray “wild animal,” that seems to have upset a whole group of homes. A group of children were particularly frightened, and the article goes on to say that parents were out in the woods with guns looking for “it.” The article also states that several complaints had been filed in regards to the creature. It is also important to state that the reports of this creature were from an area near the Black River, less than two miles from the pond aforementioned.

Sighting Text:
MI SAINT CLAIR COUNTY 1988 TR#92 * BFROreport b)' Dawn Herrick. Sept 30 initially, 1988, through November. It was the eve before opening day of bow season for deer in Michigan, and three hunters were in St. Clair Count)', near Hwy 21 and Rabbidue Road in the Beards Hills. About one mile from that junction the hunters were camping on a ridge in the state forest. While talking around the fire, something was notired walking the along the low side of the ridge on the north side OF the Pine River some 40-50 yards away. It was heavy and didn't waver or trip over all the branches and undergrowth along the river. Circling to the east we heard a piercing scream. Witnesses froze, as they regained composure and thought somebody was trying to scare them. Meanwhile the creature had moved to the south slope of the ridge some 20 yards away. Dan yelled out that the group had weapons and the joke was over...then we heard a loud, high-pitched scream and a tree falling, and as we gathered back at fireside, something very large passed us just beyond the area of fire-light, and was running faster than a human, with long strides. We could clearly hear the foot-falls as it ran through the forest knocking over small saplings and dead branches. In about 15-20 seconds the sounds faded to nothing. Using flashlights we noted a tree of 6-8 inches dia snapped like a toothpick about 8.5 feet up the bole. The hunters decided to return to camp and stay by the fire until daybreak as it was too dark to see the road a half mile away. As the fire died down in the night, a large shadow could be seen some 10-15 yards beyond the light, watching them. Once it approached and they all moved towards weapons, but it retreated into the darkness again. They left the next day. That evening, discussed the incident with Dan's father and he said something had been watching him while he sat in a tree stand, and he heard strange squealing and hooting noises in the direction of a valley. A week later, hunters returned to camp, and this time the creature only circled them. They experienced this same thing throughout the deer season, and once they saw something squatting, watching them, and as they watched the creature they could tell it had dark black hair or fur, used its hands to steady itself, and the eyes glowed a yellowish color in the light...not green like other wild animals. These appearances continued for some two to three months and then abruptly stopped. Witness has not returned to the area in several years. The area is forested from Yale to Lexington near Lake Huron. Witnesses were only 18,19, and 20 ears old.

MI SANILAC 1987 TR89 * [EOBICBF] Report: August, 1987; Sanilac County, Michigan. Credit: Ron Schaffner. rschaffner@fuse.net, EOBICBF@onelist.com Denise was in the summer of 1987 near Lexington, MI, not far from Highway M-25, and saw a creature. Not a typical Bigfoot,as it was a monkey-type creature, hunched over, with a hairless face and the body having long whitish colored hair, slightly darker on the back. It was about five foot tall, and might be a foot taller if it stood erect. There were narrow human like shoulders though the arms were longer and the hands almost touched the ground stooped over. The legs had haunches similar to a dog and the creature had a monkey-like face, wide eyes, flat nostrils and no lips. It was 11PM and there was a light post to see it with. It squinted at the light, the face wrinkling. The forehead was slanted back like a monkey, not like a humans. The walk was bipedal, but it used the front right hand also, causing a rolling gait. The left hand was held higher, as if possibly injured. It was in no apparent hurry, turning from the light and walking down the driveway. Dogs throughout the area continued to bark as the creature apparently moved from west to east in the dark. Creature Chronicles http://home.fuse.net/rschaffner

Sighting Text:
MI TR22 Kenneth A. Sayers report The report is from Port Huron, Michigan, and dates from 1968 or ’69. Several instances during this time period, I learned later, police reports had been filed on a hairy human like, so-called “monster,” which had been seen by area residents. I recently interviewed a man who had an experience with this creature…he was a young hunter and trapper at the time. He presently is a man of high standing in the community, and I wish to keep his name anonymous. Portions of the following are from a taped interview I had with the person. The man explained that he had heard “rumblings” (rumors) of strange occurrences, presumably dealing with this creature, at the time, so it is evident other people had seen it, but kept basically quiet. One Night this man and a group of his friends were camping at a site outside of Port Huron, on an oxbow of the Black River. In the middle of the oxbow was a pond, surrounded by woods and brush, and, as the man stated plainly, it was a particularly eerie spot. The still of the night was erupted by a strange “bellow” in the vicinity of the pond. It was not the scream of any usual animal, so the man ran towards it to investigate. As he ran towards it, with his friends trailing behind, the “creature” could be heard crashing in the brush, turning towards the pond. Then, the man explained, he heard a tremendous splash in the water, and as he approached the pond, could still hear something splashing, and, presumably, walking around in the deep water. When one of his friends followed with a flashlight, and cast the beam on the water, all that could be seen were sizable ripples on an otherwise stagnant pond. Whatever it was, it had not left the water, but had gone under, and stayed under. “We surmised that whatever it was dove into the water and either hid under the water, by whatever means, or escaped through some kind of a tunnel.” The man explained. He then told me that no one would go into the pond to investigate if there was a tunnel in it or not frankly because they all were afraid of its waters. He also added that there were rumors of many tunnels in that area, and that the pond was very deep. The group then found evidence that left no doubt that what they had encountered was not a normal animal, the man recounted. “We organized and found the footprints that I mentioned before, that were probably spaced five to six feet, and were roughly sixteen inches long, and embedded in the wet earth as deep as six inches, where the ball of a human foot would be. And they were fresh when we found them, because there had been rains, they weren’t washed in. And when we walked on the same ground, you could discern our footprints, but only lightly, so whatever made the tracks was easily three to four times our weight, and tall, because of the span, the stride. We finally found some with, what we thought, was pretty good detail of either a claw or a toenail, kind of a sharp definition. We made plaster casts of, I’m thinking two or three, and I remember one was really clear, it was a lot clearer than the others, it was roughly sixteen inches ling. It was a large, bare, human foot, basically, with some humongous toenails…there were sets of two, plain and simple, a left and a right.” The man then recounted all the second-and incidents that he knew of, in reference to this creature. He also told that later, he found similar footprints, again in the vicinity of the pond.

Using flashlights we noted a tree of 6-8 inches in diameter snapped like a toothpick about 8.5 feet up the bole.
