IBS Report #: 1004
Location: Prince of Wales-Outer Ketchikan county, AK. UNITED STATES

Day:
Month: JUN OR JUL
Year: 1995
Time:
Elevation:
Data Source: TR91
Credibility: 5
Locality: west coast of the Cleveland Peninsula, NORTH OF MEYER'S CHUCK
Researcher: ROB ALLEY
Witness: M.M.
Sighting Type: 1
Summary: 7 FT DARK BROWN OR BLACK 600#, PREGNANT FEMALE BF SEEN THROUGH SCOPE, WADDLED INTO FOREST, 14.5-15.5 IN TRACKS
Sighting Text:
AK 1995 TR#91 * kokanee@ptialaska.net (Rob Alley) I would like you to see photocopies of the sketches that a local artist/hunter drew of a female Bigfoot that he told me he floated up behind in his skiff on the west coast of the Cleveland Peninsula four years ago, June or July. To summarize the report, M.M. was coming round the point of a peninsula somewhere north of Meyer's Chuck, AK, when he saw the back of what he took for a bear hunkered down over a small creek on the beach, it's back to him. He says he put his .243 3x9 power scope on it at a distance of approx. 100 yds. and twisted up to nine power, filling the whole scope. When he saw the hands with fingers he started twitching on the trigger he admitted, and he says he had to deal with that on and off for the ten minutes he watched it. It was as one of the sketches very graphically shows, a large ape-like pregnant female. He said after five minutes or so she must have heard him because she turned to her left from the flat-footed squatting posture, put her right knee down on the gravel, lifting her right heel. Skin color was very dark. She twisted her head and shoulders together to the left looking at his skiff, and to his surprise, stared right at the skiff without alarm. He said he was just a forehead and rifle scope peering over the gunnel, and that he felt he did not present any silhouette as such. After a minute or two more she rose straight up with no assist from her hands and meandered into the forest with a pronounced waddle. He saw her front view several times and commented on the sparseness of hair on the lower face, areolar areas of the breasts, palms and soles. He estimated height at around seven feet, color as a dark brown or possibly black, her fur in good condition, and her pelvis very broad, I believe he estimated 55 inches around the buttocks. (The man is about forty, has a professional job in the construction industry, but is also a professional artist and does taxidermy. He has some interest in science but admits the recurring impulse to squeeze the trigger on what he called a "clear head shot" was "to settle the skeptics once and for all." He stated that she was an amazing creature, healthy looking and when he got a clear look at the hugely swollen abdomen, well, he just couldn't bring himself to do it. He said, based on knowledge of taxidermy with bears, she would have had to weigh a minimum of six hundred pounds, "but she could have weighed more." He described seeing the palms several times and what struck him was the presence of patches of lighter pinkish marks on her palms. "Her face was flat-nosed and she had a wide jaw. I don't believe he saw the dentition, nor could he say exactly what she was doing hunkered down on the beach. "She was definitely not human," he added. There was no neck visible and she had to turn her shoulders to turn her head, he stated. Her ears were not visible due to long flowing black hair which ran down off the top and sides of her head. The hair was about four inches long all over the body but looked to be closer to twelve inches in the "mane" of hair that ran down over her shoulders and especially down between her shoulder blades. He stated that although she waddled, she didn't seem to move much in an "up and down way", she was fluid that way and her knees seemed to have a spring to them. When I asked him if he ever saw her straighten her knees right out as she walked, he replied "no, that was something, she just seemed to keep them bent." I asked him if he smelled or heard anything and he said "no." He added after she was gone he pulled up to where she had been and found several tracks 14 1/2 to 15 1/2 inches long and over 5 inches wide, no arch, 5 toes, imprinted in the beach. I failed to question him on stride, but he mentioned a depth of 1 1/2 inches. The environment was typical SE Alaska coastal forest, hemlock, cedar and thick understory including Devil's Club, salmonberry and huckleberry. The witness requested confidentiality for professional reasons, has no interest in publicity and is not interested in any financial gain accruing from his sighting, and is simply interested in sharing the information and sketches with those pursuing research on Sasquatches.
